Job Description
This grant funded position, under the direction of the Director of Aquatics and Aquatics Program Coordinator, the Swim Instructor is responsible for carrying out high-quality lessons as prescribed by Greater Midland and CDC Drowning Prevention guidelines. This individual must maintain high personal standards, adhere to, and carry out the Purpose and Vision of Greater Midland.
Major Job Responsibilities
• Carry out CDC Drowning Prevention curriculum guidelines for school-age children.
• Data collection of participants including pre and post assessments, and progress reporting throughout the program.
• Ensure high-quality programs that are result-based driven, with proper planning and engaging lesson plans.
• Work cooperatively and professionally with all program participants, Greater Midland staff, volunteers, school district partners, and school district staff members.
• Ensure character development is present in all programs (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility).
• Complete, in a timely manner, all requests from the supervisor in the achievements of program and Community Center goals and objectives.
• Consistently demonstrates leadership behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s Values.
Qualification Requirements
• Minimum age of 16.
• Experience working with youth (Preferred).
• Experience in an aquatic setting (Preferred).
• Passion for aquatic safety and swim skill development.
• Excellent people skills; ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical Requirements: Instructor must have strong swimming skills, and the ability to safely assist others in an aquatic environment.
