Senior Accountant in Staten Island, New York at TUNNEL TO TOWERS FOUNDATION

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen

Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military

and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our

veterans.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Foundation’s Finance Department providing financial

information by maintaining and reconciling accounts; preparing reports and additional support as

needed.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records
• Responsible for completing special projects; correcting errors by posting adjusting journal entries; maintaining general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable details and accounts payable ledgers; keeping information confidential
• Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Experience with QuickBooks and/or Sage (preferred)
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Excellent communication & writing skills
• Detail oriented
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Strong ethical standards
• Ability to multitask multiple projects and supervise personnel
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required
