Job Description

Description:

Internship Overview

You won't be running coffee orders or shuffling paperwork this summer. At Fervo, interns are handed something real: a project of your own, scoped with your manager on day one and yours to drive for the full 12 weeks. You'll work side-by-side with the teams building the next generation of geothermal energy, tackling problems that genuinely move the business forward. At the end of the summer, you'll present your work to our executive leadership team, department leads, and fellow interns, sharing real results with a real audience. This is a real seat at the table — and a real shot at what comes next.

Position Description

Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale, anchored by our flagship Cape Station project in Milford, Utah. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate to join our team as a Production Engineering Intern, helping oversee Fervo's project assets and identify technology opportunities to maximize power generation and cost effectiveness through safe operations and asset management, while engaging with stakeholders including vendors, outside companies, and community members.

You'll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects that require adaptability, a multi-faceted skillset, and engineering curiosity, supporting the Production Engineering team alongside Completions, Surface Facilities, and Reservoir Engineering, and bringing a fresh perspective to the table.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Support production data analysis and well performance monitoring
  • Assist with artificial lift and injection optimization studies
  • Help compile and QC field production data
  • Collaborate with engineers on production forecasting and well test analysis
  • Support preparation of technical reports and presentations

Required Qualifications

  • Rising Junior, Senior, Master's/MBA candidate wrapping up within the next year, or PhD candidate — we're building a pipeline toward full-time offers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in geothermal or broader energy production operations
  • Comfort working with field data sets (Excel, Spotfire, or similar a plus)
  • Willingness to travel to and work at a remote field location, including outdoor work in variable weather and adherence to site PPE requirements
  • Coursework or prior exposure to production/reservoir engineering fundamentals — nodal analysis, artificial lift, well testing
