Job Summary: The Manager of General Ledger Accounting oversees the operational excellence and technical strength of the general ledger accounting function across North American operations. This role ensures financial integrity through accurate reporting, strong governance, robust internal controls, and standardized accounting practices, while driving process improvements in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. Operating in partnership with the Senior Director of Accounting and Manager of Accounting Transformation & Integration, this role provides a stable foundation of accounting excellence, anchoring the organizations financial integrity as transformation initiatives are designed and implemented.
Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence & Oversight:
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across U.S. and Canadian entities, ensuring timely, accurate external (GAAP/ IFRS/ IFS) financial reporting
- Manage general ledger, consolidation, intercompany accounting, and reconciliations.
- Oversee treasury, fixed assets, ROU lease, and intercompany processes.
- Lead internal and external audits.
- Maintain chart of accounts consistency and standardized accounting treatment across divisions and ERP systems.
- Support working capital management through accurate cash forecasting.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in technical accounting treatments and best practices.
- Participate in ERP harmonization, accounting process standardization, and integration initiatives across U.S. and Canadian entities.
- Contribute to M&A and post-merger integration by providing accounting expertise, supporting system and process onboarding, and ensuring continuity of financial reporting across newly acquired entities.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead, coach, and develop general ledger staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement, including goal setting, and performance management.
- Strengthen internal controls and promote ownership of accounting processes within the team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting teams to foster excellence across all accounting functions.
- Partner with the Transformation Manager to ensure process improvements are operationally feasible and compliant; and serve as backup as required.
Supervisor Duties:
In accordance with applicable Company policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, will perform the following supervisory responsibilities: planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity consolidation and supervisory leadership.
- Experience in construction or project-based industries; job cost integration knowledge preferred.
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge; familiarity with Canadian reporting standards a plus.
- Strong knowledge of post-merger accounting integration, multi-entity consolidations, and intercompany eliminations.
- Proven ability to maintain operational excellence in complex, multi-system environments.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication, documentation, and change-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with data mapping, reconciliation, and reporting automation tools.
- Ability to analyze and report key compliance metrics to management and project leadership
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively across departments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- 3-5 years of leading cross-functional projects to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity consolidation and supervisory leadership.
