About Us

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) assesses, plans, and implements observational and clinical research protocols in a research setting, independently or autonomous in collaboration with other health professionals. The NP is responsible for managing protocols for study subjects enrolled in therapeutic and non-therapeutic clinical and observational research studies of the MACS/WIHS Research study. This individual is expected to establish and maintain effective communication with professional and ancillary personnel, and to demonstrate a high degree of self motivation. Must be able to work with several members of the study team at various locations as needed.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with protocol development, subject recruitment, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assess the health status of assigned study subjects. Review and interpret screening and diagnostic observations and report findings to the project director, data manager and principal investigators as indicated. Manage coordinate and assume responsibility for activities of the specific research protocol to ensure safe and competent care and effective protocol management.
  • Implement subject intake and schedule subjects for related studies.
  • Administer medications as needed per protocol.
  • Assess the health status of assigned study participants- perform medical histories, analyze laboratory results, and perform physical examinations (including pelvic exam, colposcopy and biopsies). Provide lab and procedure results to study participants and their Primary Care Providers as per the participants recorded request.
  • In collaboration with the research team, implement, and evaluate protocols based on subject assessment, and provide direct subject care to ensure implementation of specific research protocols.
  • Conduct research and clinical activities.
  • Monitor participants to ensure that research protocol is being followed. Keeping accurate records documenting activities.
  • Complete protocol forms and perform data entry to ensure that data is detailed and accurate
  • Train to conduct study related activities including Fibroscans (liver scans), Pulmonary Function testing and other study procedures as they arise.
  • Implement teaching plans for study subjects to meet learning needs in relation to research protocols.
  • Work with clinical staff to monitor clinical inventory and order necessary supplies, stay aware of expiration dates of all clinical supplies and solutions and supervise the maintenance of clinical equipment .
  • Work with medical staff to maintain clinical logs in the shared drive system.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in NYS is required preferably with designation as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Master’s Degree and 5 yrs patient management experience in clinical and/or research with a administrative leadership component preferred
  • AANC or AANP Board Certification is preferred
  • The individual is expected to establish and maintain effective communication with professional and ancillary personnel, and to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Must be able to work with a research team including principal investigator, project director, data manager, study coordinators, research assistants, laboratory personnel as well as other clinicians and investigators.
  • Use standards of good clinical practice.
  • Familiarity with database utilization, regulatory compliance and human subject’s protection issues. Must maintain CITI certification and CME’s for licensure.
  • Competency in the use of MS Office and EPIC is necessary e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Perform phlebotomy.

Hiring Rate:
58.46
Minimum Salary Range:
USD $58.46/Hr.

Maximum Salary Range:
USD $58.46/Hr.
