Senior Director of Product, Retail

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director of Product, Retail based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact retail product organization focused on building technology that transforms how grocery partners operate.
You will own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a platform that helps retailers reduce waste, improve efficiency, and create new revenue opportunities.
Working at the intersection of product, engineering, data, and retail operations, you will shape solutions used by enterprise partners across North America.
The ideal candidate will bring deep grocery or retail expertise and the ability to translate complex operational challenges into scalable product experiences.
You will act as both a product executive and business leader, driving measurable outcomes through data-informed decisions and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Director of Product, Retail will lead the development and execution of the retail product strategy, ensuring that solutions align with partner needs, business objectives, and measurable outcomes. This leader will guide cross-functional teams, influence executive decisions, and build products that improve retail operations at scale.

  • Define and own the retail product strategy, roadmap, and priorities across partner applications, onboarding experiences, catalog integrations, reporting tools, and pricing capabilities.
  • Apply deep retail and grocery expertise to ensure product decisions reflect real-world operational needs and business priorities.
  • Identify, validate, and prioritize high-impact opportunities using data, customer insights, and market understanding.
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional product organization including product managers, engineers, and designers while establishing strong execution standards.
  • Own key business outcomes including partner adoption, store activation, product usage, and revenue growth.
  • Partner directly with enterprise retail customers, store teams, and executive stakeholders to understand challenges and translate them into effective product strategies.
  • Support customer growth initiatives through product expertise, executive presentations, discovery sessions, and data-driven value propositions.
  • Improve activation processes by reducing operational complexity and accelerating customer onboarding timelines.
  • Collaborate with data and machine learning teams to integrate intelligent pricing, automation, and AI-driven capabilities into retail solutions.
  • Promote a culture of strong product judgment, experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced product leader with strong retail domain knowledge, strategic thinking abilities, and a proven track record of delivering impactful enterprise products. You should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where you combine business ownership, customer empathy, and technical understanding.

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, including 5+ years leading cross-functional teams toward shared business goals.
  • Strong background in grocery, retail, or retail technology, with experience understanding merchandising, store operations, inventory, catalog data, and enterprise decision-making processes.
  • Proven ability to define product strategies, manage complex roadmaps, and deliver measurable business results.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with experience using insights to validate opportunities and influence product decisions.
  • Experience building and launching products from early concepts through successful adoption.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with enterprise customers and senior executives to translate operational challenges into scalable solutions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Comfortable working in a lean, dynamic environment where leaders are expected to be hands-on and highly collaborative.
  • Experience with retail technology areas such as pricing optimization, inventory systems, catalog management, or operational workflows is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered product development, automation, machine learning applications, or LLM-based solutions is preferred.
