Job Description
For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God’s Word. Today we’re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God’s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.
We're looking for a Logistics Operations Manager to take ownership of our distribution network's long-term design, day-to-day performance, and future evolution. This leader will oversee the complete distribution operating model — aligning people, systems, processes, and infrastructure to support our mission and growth. This role goes beyond keeping the warehouse running smoothly today, it will be building the foundation for tomorrow, ensuring distribution functions as a scalable, reliable, and continuously improving enterprise capability.
We're seeking a trusted, hands-on leader who can manage present-day operational needs while architecting a distribution operation built for what's next. This is a chance to directly shape how a mission-driven organization delivers on its promises.
The Impact You'll Make
Success in this role will be measured by the organizational strength and capabilities you help build over time.
- Redesign our distribution operating model — modernizing warehouse layouts, workflows, and automation (including new material handling and conveyor technology) to support growth, scalability, and reliability.
- Elevate distribution operations into a recognized strategic function through strong service delivery, disciplined cost management, and sharp operational insight, backed by a clear, data-driven performance framework covering service, cost, quality, and productivity.
- Build lasting frameworks for continuous improvement, cross-team collaboration, and performance accountability, driven by meaningful KPIs and consistent operating rhythms.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership of Distribution
- Take ownership of distribution and logistics performance — shipping, returns, warehouse operations, and related functions — ensuring the order fulfillment lifecycle runs safely, consistently, and efficiently.
- Set clear direction and hold the distribution function accountable at every level.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the VP of Operations and other key stakeholders, shaping enterprise-wide operational plans and decisions.
- Design and govern the distribution operating model with long-term scalability and reliability in mind.
- Represent the distribution function in cross-departmental planning and initiatives.
- Keep warehouse layouts, material handling methods, and workflows adaptable and fit for evolving needs.
- Put in place standards, processes, and governance that create consistency and operational discipline.
- Guide the ongoing development and use of distribution technology, including WMS and shipping platforms.
Continuous Improvement & Performance Management
- Champion a data-driven approach to performance across distribution — tracking KPIs for throughput, cost, service levels, labor productivity, and quality.
- Use data, analytics, and WMS/TMS tools to spot opportunities, risks, and bottlenecks affecting service, cost, and throughput.
- Drive continuous improvement practices and structured problem-solving, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact and organizational readiness.
- Keep distribution performance transparent, measurable, and tied to broader company goals.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead and grow a high-performing distribution team at every level.
- Cultivate a culture rooted in engagement, ownership, safety, and operational excellence.
- Develop leadership strength and succession planning within the function.
- Lead through change with empathy, clarity, and emotional intelligence.
- Forward-thinking and strategic, with strong analytical and decision-making instincts that anticipate what's ahead.
- A confident, grounded decision-maker with sound judgment.
- High emotional intelligence and a natural ability to build strong relationships.
Skills & Experience
- Substantial leadership experience in distribution, logistics, or warehouse operations. At least 5 years in logistics, supply chain, order fulfillment, engineering, or a related field, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, operations, or a related field (master's degree a plus).
- Solid grasp of WMS/TMS systems, analytics tools, material handling equipment, and operational technology, with demonstrated ability to design and lead complex operating models.
- Track record of leading successfully through change, complexity, and ambiguity — balancing big-picture strategy with hands-on operational know-how.
- Personal alignment with and adherence to the Bible as God’s Word, and agreement with our Statement of Faith .
