Position Summary
Highland Baking Company is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Driver to transport products, ingredients, and materials between company facilities, distribution centers, suppliers, and customers. The ideal candidate must have experience operating a manual transmission Class A commercial vehicle and be committed to safety, compliance, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A CDL manual transmission truck.
- Transport products and materials safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Complete required DOT inspections and maintain accurate Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records.
- Verify bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery paperwork.
- Secure cargo and ensure loads are transported safely.
- Load and unload products using pallet jacks or other material handling equipment as needed.
- Follow delivery schedules and communicate delays to dispatch.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
- Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, food safety, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, professional vehicle and provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with other transportation or warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission (no automatic restriction).
- Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience preferred.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
- Frequently enter and exit the truck cab.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
- Safely operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
Work Environment
- Drive in varying weather, road, and traffic conditions.
- Work in warehouse, shipping, and production environments.
- Overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours may be required based on business needs.
