Description:

Summary:

Serve as the technical process leads in running and designing pilot tests and all process engineering activities from sale through start-up of custom capital process equipment and systems. Includes process design, machine design reviews, commissioning, and process field service activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply product quality requirements, process design, and customer criteria to select the equipment settings and process conditions necessary for testing design.
  • Act as the technical lead for quality pilot test design, documentation, and execution.
  • Coordinate pilot test material shipping details between the Process Development Center (pilot plant), shipping/receiving, and the customer.
  • Direct activities during testing. Write or review technical test reports and approve as necessary approves technical test reports as necessary.
  • Support domestic and international sales and marketing efforts by providing excellent customer service, communication, and technical information.
  • Review and understand all technical and commercial documentation from order entry.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and design reviews.
  • Work with Process Controls Department in development of process flow diagrams, simplified piping and instrumentation diagrams, and process control narratives.
  • Generate technical documentation for project management as needed.
  • Review equipment drawing packages and attend factory acceptance tests.
  • Conduct quality startups of installed equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate review of customer supplied specifications with other departments and determine job costs.
  • Obtain and review all technical vendor specifications, and is the technical contact to select, inspect, and accept auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide customer process support for installed equipment for field service projects.
  • Act as the customer champion in leading resolution to customer complaints and warranty situations related to process issues.
  • Collaborate with all internal teams to ensure successful project completion.
Requirements:

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in an office environment and industrial process area.
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and/or outdoor customer locations.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. in the pilot plant area.
  • Must be able to work in a classified hazardous area. Protective equipment must be worn in these areas.
  • Must be able to travel up to 40% domestic and/or international.

Education:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.

Experience/Skills:

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in Application Engineering or equivalent experience in custom capital process equipment and systems.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines; capacity to manage priorities and expectations.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers, consultants, and suppliers, both written and verbal.
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in problem solving.
