Starting Salary: From $115,000 per year (Higher compensation available based on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Construction Quality Assurance Manager to oversee quality control activities for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This position is responsible for ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, project specifications, and established quality standards while maintaining accurate documentation throughout the construction process.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to verify compliance, resolve quality issues, and support successful project completion.
- Develop, maintain, and update project quality control documentation, including submittal logs and project-specific QC reports.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and related documentation to confirm compliance with project requirements.
- Lead weekly quality control meetings with project teams and prepare meeting minutes.
- Prepare daily quality reports documenting completed work, inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for each definable feature of work.
- Verify that required quality checklists are completed before concrete placement, structural steel installation, and other critical construction activities.
- Inspect incoming materials to confirm they match approved submittals and are properly stored before use.
- Coordinate and document preconstruction meetings with subcontractors before new phases of work begin.
- Schedule, monitor, and maintain records for required code inspections and third-party inspections.
- Track non-conforming work, coordinate corrective actions, and verify deficiencies have been resolved before work continues.
- Perform ongoing field inspections to ensure construction follows approved plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning of building systems and maintain all related records.
- Prepare and distribute pre-punch lists, punch lists, and verify completion of outstanding items.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings throughout the project.
- Assemble project closeout documentation, including operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and final as-built documents.
- Stop work when necessary to address safety concerns, quality issues, or conditions that could negatively impact project progress.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 10 years of directly related experience, or
- 20 years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor.
- Current USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification.
- Strong knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction disciplines.
- Understanding of project sequencing, scheduling, and construction planning.
- Experience with construction quality documentation and project change administration.
- Knowledge of construction methods for commercial, industrial, renovation, and civil projects.
- Proficiency with construction management software and standard computer applications.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs multiple times throughout the workday.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel to project sites within the assigned geographic area.
- Experience coordinating quality control activities from project startup through closeout.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality standards.
- Experience overseeing quality assurance programs for commercial or institutional construction projects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to identify issues early, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain thorough project documentation.
- A collaborative approach to working with field teams while maintaining independent quality oversight.
