We are seeking a licensed Project Engineer in Electrical Engineering who brings deep, hands-on substation and power generation expertise, along with proven technical leadership, to the design, development, and execution of complex electrical infrastructure projects. This role will serve as a senior technical authority, leading engineering activities from concept through commissioning, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance.
If you Are:
  • Deeply interested in supporting the transition to clean, renewable energy.
  • A driven, detail-oriented professional seeking a meaningful career growth opportunity
  • Proud of delivering high‑quality engineering work
  • Flexible and excited to work in a small, collaborative, high‑impact team
  • A continuous learner who thrives on expanding technical knowledge
  • A critical thinker who transforms technical information into clear, compelling communication
  • A direct, thoughtful communicator who values strong, respectful working relationships

You Will:
  • Lead the full engineering lifecycle of MV/HV power generation and interconnection projects—from early scoping through detailed electrical design, procurement support, construction oversight, and commissioning
  • Serve as a senior lead technical and engineering authority for substation, protection, and power generation systems, providing PE-level review, and final design approval
  • Review, develop, and integrate engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations across electrical, mechanical, and controls/SCADA disciplines for substations, switchyards, protection and relaying schemes, and systems including natural gas‑fired generation and battery energy storage (BESS)
  • Conduct formal electrical design reviews at key milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC), with particular attention to MV and HV equipment, protection, and grounding design, and drive timely resolution of technical comments
  • Lead technical support for utility interconnection activities, including interconnection studies, utility protection requirements, relay settings review, commissioning coordination, and compliance with utility and ISO requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external engineers, OEMs, and construction partners to ensure adherence to design requirements, safety standards, performance expectations, and equipment specifications
  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and coordinate work across internal stakeholders, consultants, EPC partners, OEMs, and operations personnel.
  • Lead technical evaluations of bids and vendor proposals, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, natural gas reciprocating engines, and instrumentation
  • Develop and refine electrical scopes of work, RFQs, design specifications, and engineering procedures
  • Provide hands-on field leadership for site commissioning, protective relay testing and coordination, and troubleshooting, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and field commissioning support
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers on MV and HV design standards, field practices, and engineering best practices
  • Evaluate engineering alternatives and design decisions with consideration for safety, reliability, constructability, operability, schedule, and lifecycle cost.
  • Evaluate emerging electrical technologies across BESS, natural gas generation, renewables, and distributed energy systems
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (Power) strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in power generation, substation design, BESS, transmission & distribution, renewables, or related energy sectors, including direct, hands-on MV and HV design and field experience
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with LV, MV, and HV design and field execution, including equipment sizing, protection & control, relay coordination, grounding, switchgear, power transformers, and SCADA/RTU integration. Substation protection & controls (P&C) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting EPC projects during detailed design, construction, startup, and commercial operation.
  • Proficiency in power generation concepts, electrical protection, communications protocols, and equipment sizing
  • Experience performing or reviewing power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, grounding, arc flash, and protective device coordination analyses.
  • Strong familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NESC, IEEE, IEEE C37 substation/protection standards, NFPA)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring junior engineers and directing multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
