Registered Dietitian in Gridley, California at Orchard Hospital

Along with Food Service Manager provides consultative oversight of department orientation, work assignments and food handling for cooks and preparation staff, including conducting in-service programs and meetings together with Food Service Manager.

Serves as a professional liaison between Food and Nutrition Services, medical staff, nursing staff, and hospital administration by providing consultation, recommendations, and guidance related to patient nutrition care, diet orders, menu approval, food service operations, and regulatory compliance.

Performs nutritional assessments, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluating of patients and residents per hospital policy for acute care and skilled care units as assigned.

In coordination with Food Service Manager, prepares and submits department policies and procedures for annual review in accordance with accreditation and regulatory guidelines.

Proficiently uses critical thinking skills and willingness to work with patients, visitors, vendors, and staff - identifying actual and potential risk and demonstrating leadership in emergent or crisis situations.

Provides nutritional consultation to staff/interdisciplinary team and counseling to patients/residents or responsible parties/family members/caregivers. Collaborates with medical staff to plan and implement patient/resident nutritional care.

Leads and/or supports in collaboration with Food Service Manager: kitchen inspections and audits to support the maintenance of health, safety, and sanitation of the nutrition services department and ensures compliance with county, state, federal standards, survey, licensure, and accreditation readiness – documents outcomes and participates in Organization’s Quality Improvement Program.

Maintains any pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify diets to meet nutritional needs, including weights, summaries, and attends interdisciplinary teams for residents and patients as indicated.

Approves and enforces adherence to standardized recipes, menus, cook’s spreadsheets, and the Diet Manual in coordination with the Food Service Manager.

Demonstrates proficiency navigating through Orchard Hospital Health Information Systems (HIS), E-Learning, and Orchard Hospital Policies and Procedures.

Demonstrates effective communication with members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes; attends and participates in all require d in-service training and mandatory meetings as well as compliance with attendance and time clock supervision and standards/policies.
