The ideal candidate has grocery or dairy experience, takes ownership of their department, and understands how effective ordering, inventory control, merchandising, and product rotation contribute to sales, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, train, and support Dairy Clerks while creating a positive, productive, and customer-focused team environment.

  • Oversee daily Dairy operations including stocking, merchandising, replenishment, ordering, receiving, and inventory management.

  • Place and manage product orders, ensuring appropriate inventory levels while balancing product availability, sales, and waste.

  • Liaise directly with vendors and suppliers regarding orders, availability, shortages, credits, new products, promotions, and delivery concerns.

  • Manage inventory, identify out-of-stocks and overstock, complete inventory counts, and maintain accurate inventory controls.

  • Monitor sales and product movement to support effective ordering and merchandising decisions.

  • Ensure Dairy products are fully stocked, fresh, properly rotated (FIFO), and attractively merchandised.

  • Complete regular date checks and proactively manage shrink, waste, and product quality.

  • Receive and organize deliveries while maintaining clean and organized refrigerated storage areas.

  • Execute pricing, signage, promotions, seasonal displays, and merchandising initiatives.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and assist customers with product inquiries and requests.

  • Assign daily tasks and support labour planning, scheduling, productivity, and department priorities.

  • Provide back-up support across Grocery and Frozen, including stocking, merchandising, ordering, inventory, and customer service.

  • Support store-wide operations during peak periods, staffing gaps, opening/closing, and other business needs.

  • Act as Lead on Duty (LOD) as scheduled, supporting opening and closing procedures, resolving customer and operational concerns, and providing leadership across the store.

  • Maintain compliance with food safety, temperature control, workplace health & safety, and company policies.

  • Work closely with the Store Manager and Department Leaders to support overall store performance.

  • Additional duties as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous grocery, dairy, or food retail experience; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience with ordering, vendor relationships, inventory management, merchandising, and product rotation.

  • Strong customer service, communication, organization, and leadership skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and sense of urgency.

  • Ability to make effective inventory and ordering decisions based on sales and business needs.

  • Ability to lead by example and work alongside the team on the sales floor.

  • Comfortable supporting Dairy, Grocery, Frozen, and broader store operations.

  • Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
