The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping AGS Company Automotive Solutions’ Hoyt manufacturing facility and Norton Shores Distribution Center running safely, reliably, and efficiently. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and responding to equipment issues that impact production. The Maintenance Technician partners closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Safety to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and support continuous improvement across the plant floor. This role requires strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a firm commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all production equipment, tooling, and facility systemsExecute PM tasks according to established schedules to minimize the risk of equipment failure and maximize equipment lifespanIdentify recurring failure patterns and recommend adjustments to PM schedules and proceduresMaintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, parts usage, and time tracking, to support compliance and asset history

Troubleshooting & Repair

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues across production and facility systemsPerform timely corrective repairs to minimize downtime and restore equipment to full operating conditionRespond promptly to emergency breakdowns and system failures, including on-call situations as neededEscalate complex issues appropriately and partner with vendors, contractors, and engineering resources when specialized support is required

Installations & Facility Support

Assist with the installation, relocation, and commissioning of new plant equipmentSupport facility improvement projects, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical modificationsFabricate, modify, or repair components and fixtures as needed to support productionSupport the facility’s environmental and sustainability practices

Safety & Compliance

Ensure all tools, machinery, and work practices meet safety standards; report concerns and near-misses promptlyFollow lockout/tagout, PPE, and other safety procedures without exceptionSupport OSHA compliance and internal safety auditsMaintain accurate documentation to support regulatory and internal compliance requirements

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and overall plant efficiencyImplement best practices and innovative solutions that enhance uptime and reduce costStay current with maintenance practices, equipment technology, and industry innovationsContribute ideas that improve safety, quality, and productivity across the plant

Equipment uptime is consistently strong, with unplanned downtime minimized through effective preventive maintenanceBreakdowns are diagnosed and repaired quickly, with clear communication to Production and leadershipPreventive maintenance is completed on schedule, with accurate records supporting asset history and complianceSafety standards are upheld consistently, with proactive identification and correction of hazardsContinuous improvement ideas are surfaced and implemented, driving measurable gains in reliability and efficiencyAGS values are demonstrated consistently through integrity, accountability, collaboration, and attention to detail

Qualifications & Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade certification preferred5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance operations requiredStrong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems requiredAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals requiredProficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) requiredStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyWillingness to be available for on-call emergency responseExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesCommitment to upholding AGS values and promoting a positive, safety-first work cultureMIG/TIG welding and basic fabrication skills preferredState of Michigan electrical journeyman license preferred

Physical Requirements

Required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the shiftAble to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and heavier items with assistanceComfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and around moving equipmentAbility to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment requiring dexterity and hand-eye coordinationContinuous mental and visual attention to safety, equipment condition, and work quality

Salary & Bonus

Base Pay Range: $28.50–$34.50 per hour (Range is based on experience, skills, and role alignment within the organization.)

Bonus Eligibility: Eligible for a performance-based bonus of 4%–10% of base annual salary, based on individual, team, and company performance.
