The Senior Staff Software Engineer will provide technical leadership across a complex marketing technology ecosystem, driving architectural decisions, AI transformation initiatives, and engineering excellence. This role requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on technical expertise to solve ambiguous, high-impact challenges and enable teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Define and execute the technical vision and long-term strategy for content and marketing technology platforms, ensuring alignment with broader engineering goals.
- Lead the transformation toward AI-driven systems capable of automating and accelerating marketing campaign creation and execution.
- Architect and scale complex platforms, including content management systems, authoring tools, rendering infrastructure, and agent-based solutions.
- Identify and solve the most challenging technical problems across multiple teams, systems, and business domains.
- Drive architecture reviews, establish engineering standards, and promote best practices across the organization.
- Partner with engineering leaders, product teams, designers, and business stakeholders to influence roadmaps and technical priorities.
- Mentor Staff and senior engineers, multiplying technical expertise and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
- Represent the marketing technology organization in company-wide technical discussions and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure systems meet high standards for scalability, reliability, availability, and performance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader with a strong background in software engineering, distributed systems, and large-scale platform development. They should combine deep technical knowledge with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
- 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership at organizational scale.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive expertise designing and scaling backend systems, service-oriented architectures, and distributed platforms.
- Proven experience building and operating AI-driven or agentic systems in production environments.
- Strong programming experience with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, GraphQL, relational and NoSQL databases, Redis, and microservices architectures.
- Experience defining technical strategy and influencing engineering direction across multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of software quality, system efficiency, reliability, and scalability principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in marketing technology, growth platforms, or customer engagement systems is a plus.
- Ability to operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and drive initiatives from concept through execution.
- Competitive base salary range of $248,000 - $310,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, location, and business factors.
