The Senior Global Technical Lead will oversee technical performance, quality assurance, and strategic execution across a global portfolio of health initiatives. The role requires strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and the ability to coordinate complex programs involving government partners, technical experts, and international stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction across multiple global health program areas, ensuring alignment with approved objectives, government priorities, and implementation standards.
- Oversee embedded technical advisors worldwide, ensuring their activities support partner institutions, country priorities, and program outcomes.
- Review and evaluate technical deliverables, progress reports, and implementation activities to ensure accuracy, quality, measurable impact, and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Develop executive-level briefings, technical analyses, and decision-support materials to inform senior government stakeholders and program leadership.
- Analyze country-level data, identify operational challenges and risks, and recommend solutions to improve program effectiveness and sustainability.
- Evaluate travel requests and technical missions to ensure strategic alignment, cost effectiveness, and contribution to program objectives.
- Lead technical coordination meetings, portfolio learning sessions, and communities of practice to encourage knowledge exchange and continuous improvement.
- Develop standardized technical guidance, tools, dashboards, and knowledge management resources to capture best practices and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to track performance indicators, assess outcomes, and strengthen evidence-based decision-making.
- Identify technical, operational, and strategic risks while recommending mitigation strategies to leadership teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through portfolio assessments, quality reviews, and strategic recommendations.
The ideal candidate is a senior global health professional with extensive experience leading complex international programs, managing multidisciplinary teams, and advising government and institutional stakeholders. Strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- Advanced degree required, such as Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), PhD in Public Health, MD/MPH, or equivalent advanced medical/public health qualification.
- Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible international experience managing and leading complex global health programs in low- and middle-income countries.
- At least 10 years of experience supervising multidisciplinary teams of senior public health advisors and technical specialists.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more global health areas, including tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, global health security, pandemic preparedness, maternal and child health, nutrition, or health systems strengthening.
- Experience working with or supporting organizations such as U.S. government agencies, international health institutions, or global health funding organizations.
- Proven ability to provide technical oversight, develop executive communications, prepare strategic briefings, and support senior-level decision-making.
- Strong understanding of global health frameworks, international health regulations, public health security strategies, and government assistance programs.
- Experience using health data visualization and monitoring tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, diplomatic communication, scientific writing, and risk management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, multicultural, and rapidly changing environments.
- Fluency in written and spoken English required; additional proficiency in French, Portuguese, or Arabic is a plus.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $170,000, based on experience, qualifications, and expertise.
