This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on advancing environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and sustainability across a growing organization. The role will shape and execute comprehensive environmental strategies while translating long-term goals into measurable operational outcomes. You will lead environmental programs, assess risks, and ensure alignment with federal, state, and local requirements. Working across departments and with executive leadership, you will influence how sustainability is embedded throughout operations and business initiatives. The position combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, including environmental due diligence, audits, training, and performance reporting. It is well suited to an experienced environmental leader who can inspire teams, navigate complex regulations, and drive meaningful organizational change.
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive environmental strategies, programs, and initiatives aligned with organizational objectives and long-term sustainability goals.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Lead the environmental function by providing strategic direction, mentorship, coaching, and support to team members.
- Conduct environmental assessments, audits, risk analyses, and sustainability evaluations to identify challenges, opportunities, and areas for continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable environmental practices into operations, projects, facilities, and broader business initiatives.
- Monitor and report environmental performance metrics, program progress, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in interactions with government agencies, community stakeholders, public forums, media, and other external parties as appropriate.
- Monitor emerging environmental regulations, technologies, trends, and industry practices and advise leadership on potential impacts, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead environmental due diligence activities associated with projects, acquisitions, facility developments, and other strategic initiatives.
- Develop and deliver environmental and sustainability training programs to strengthen employee awareness, engagement, and accountability.
- Promote a culture of environmental stewardship, transparency, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Manage environmental program budgets and resources while balancing regulatory obligations, operational priorities, and long-term sustainability objectives.
- Support corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives and drive collaboration across departments to achieve measurable environmental outcomes.
- Report directly to the SVP of EHS and contribute both strategic direction and practical, measurable wins as the organization continues to grow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental management, sustainability, EHS, or a closely related field, including significant leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, environmental management practices, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and managing environmental and sustainability programs at an organizational level.
- Strong project management, analytical, risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring professionals, and building collaborative working relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMS), sustainability reporting frameworks, environmental performance metrics, and relevant data analysis tools.
- Strong financial management and budgeting capabilities for environmental programs and initiatives.
- Experience integrating environmental objectives with corporate social responsibility and broader business strategies is preferred.
- Ability to influence organizational change, build cross-departmental alignment, and turn strategic environmental objectives into practical initiatives.
- Experience working within dynamic, matrixed organizations and adapting effectively to changing priorities.
- Certifications such as LEED AP, ISO 14001, CSP, CIH, or comparable environmental or safety credentials are a plus.
- Strategic, forward-thinking mindset combined with the ability to remain hands-on and focused on execution.
- Strong commitment to environmental responsibility, integrity, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
- Competitive annual salary of $140,000–$160,000, depending on experience.
- Weekly pay, with compensation paid every Friday.
