Job Description
Do you want to help people see better, look better, and feel better? Are you interested in three-day weekends? EYE-Q Vision Care is seeking applicants for the position of Surgical Technician to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The Surgical Technician will perform the duties necessary to assist the Circulator RN with O.R. activities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs required sanitation duties and assists with surgical suite opening/closing cleaning requirements.
Monitors operation of medication/medical solution refrigerator.
Displays knowledge of use and storage of medical gases.
Assists with the handling of specimens as per policy.
Performs administrative duties pertinent to position.
Sets up O.R. for all procedures, including setting up instruments, supplies, equipment, and draping.
Performs duties as scrub technician during all surgical cases and anticipates the surgeon’s needs.
Assists with circulating duties when not scrubbed under direct supervision of the circulating R.N.
Communicates with patients and families as appropriate.
Displays knowledge of sponge/sharp/instrument counts.
Manages the supply and handling of IOLs.
Displays knowledge of instruments used in all procedures, their care and handling, proper cleaning, wrapping, and sterilization techniques.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of operating room procedures and technology/equipment.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of use and storage of medical gasses.
Ability to use or learn computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and NextGen.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and other employees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Current CPR certification.
Graduation from an accredited school for Operating Room Technical training and 6-12 months post-graduate operating room experience, or 18 months on the job training experience.
Current ORT certification (preferred).
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an ophthalmology setting. This is a full-time position with a benefits package. Hourly rate will be determined based on experience and training of the candidate. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
POSITION LOCATION: EYE-Q Ambulatory Surgery Center is located in Fresno.
SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday 10-hour shifts
PAY RANGE: $24.20 - $43.65 per hour depending on skills, experience, and education.
