Desenvolvedor(a) COBOL / Mainframe Snior

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Desenvolvedor(a) COBOL / Mainframe Sênior in Brazil.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mainframe professional who wants to work on critical, large-scale systems in a highly technical and innovation-driven environment. In this role, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications that support complex business operations with high performance and reliability requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on strategic projects focused on operational efficiency, system stability, and scalable legacy architectures. The position is ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, optimizing high-volume processing environments, and contributing to impactful digital transformation initiatives. Accountabilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance mission-critical systems within mainframe environments, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
  • Design and implement technical solutions to optimize processing times and improve platform resource efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain COBOL applications for both online and batch processing environments.
  • Support production environments by troubleshooting incidents and resolving critical system issues.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to propose scalable and effective solutions.
  • Ensure system stability, performance optimization, and operational continuity.
  • Participate in deployment processes, testing activities, and technical validations.
  • Contribute to infrastructure, process, and application analysis within complex legacy ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with teams involved in modernization and integration initiatives involving APIs and distributed systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in COBOL development within mainframe environments.
  • Solid experience with Batch and Online processing, CICS, VSAM, DB2, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and FTP.
  • Experience using mainframe utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS, and File Manager.
  • Knowledge of processing scheduling tools such as CA-ESP.
  • Experience working in complex and high-volume processing environments.
  • Ability to analyze processes, applications, infrastructure, and processing workflows.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
  • Strong technical knowledge of batch performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with dump analysis, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
  • Familiarity with mainframe integration using APIs and microservices.
  • Experience with version control and change management tools such as Endevor, Changeman, and hybrid Git environments.
  • Knowledge of messaging systems, security practices, auditing, and legacy system architecture.
  • Nice to have: experience in banking or financial services environments.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of payment systems, credit products, PIX, collections, compliance, or risk operations.
  • Nice to have: experience with cloud/hybrid environments, Java/.NET integrations, or legacy modernization initiatives.
