Course description: Ecofeminism is grounded in the ideological interconnection between women and nature, the material constraints of the gendered division of labor, and the alliance between environmental and feminist movements worldwide. This course examines these connections, the development and debates within global ecofeminism, as well as efforts to link gender and environmental theories, activism, and justice.
Required experience and qualifications:
- PhD in philosophy, social sciences, or humanities.
- Expertise in ecofeminism and environmental justice scholarship.
- Experience teaching interdisciplinary courses in social movements and critical theory, with the ability to guide graduate students through complex theoretical debates and connect these to historical and contemporary movement-based struggles.
- Experience integrating case studies, experiential learning, community-engaged pedagogy, and activist knowledge in teaching.
- Passive proficiency in the second official language
- Sensitivity to multiple differences (including abilities, genders, and cultures) and to students' concerns.
- Proficiency with both in-person and online learning tools (e.g. BrightSpace).
- Participate in three scheduled teaching meetings with members of the teaching team of the School of Social Innovation during the term.
