Regional Vice President, Contracting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Vice President, Contracting based in the United States.

This executive leadership role oversees strategic contracting operations across a multi-state healthcare region.
The position is responsible for shaping provider network strategies, leading complex negotiations, and driving sustainable business performance.
You will manage relationships with physicians, hospitals, post-acute providers, and specialty service organizations.
The role requires strong healthcare industry expertise, financial understanding, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
You will lead regional teams, establish long-term objectives, and improve operational outcomes through effective strategy execution.

Accountabilities:

The Regional Vice President, Contracting leads the development and execution of regional contracting strategies while ensuring alignment between provider partnerships, operational goals, and financial objectives. This role requires strong leadership, negotiation expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across a complex healthcare environment.

  • Lead all provider contract negotiations across the assigned region, including physicians, hospitals, post-acute facilities, and delegated specialty services.
  • Develop and execute long-term contracting strategies, objectives, and operational plans to support regional growth and performance.
  • Oversee contract lifecycle management from strategy development through negotiation, execution, and ongoing optimization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, internal leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and value.
  • Develop strategies related to provider compensation models, risk arrangements, and market-level healthcare initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders and contracting teams to strengthen organizational capabilities.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve consumer experiences and support high-quality healthcare outcomes.
  • Travel periodically within the assigned region to support business activities, meetings, and relationship management.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive healthcare leadership experience, strong negotiation capabilities, and a proven ability to manage complex provider contracting environments. This position requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead teams and influence outcomes at a regional level.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Extensive leadership experience within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven success managing end-to-end provider contract negotiations and closing complex agreements.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-product strategies at the market or regional level.
  • Strong understanding of health plan finance, provider reimbursement models, and healthcare compensation arrangements.
  • Knowledge of risk-based contracting models and the ability to influence strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and deliver measurable business results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Passion for improving healthcare experiences and supporting better outcomes for members.
  • Ability to live within and travel throughout the assigned regional territory.

  • Competitive annual base salary range of $203,400 - $279,800, depending on skills, experience, education, certifications, and geographic factors.
