Job Description
This role is responsible for the production volume and output quality of the second shift. Must have strong knowledge in machine setups in order to train, supervise and fill in where needed.
3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), 12-hours per day (and bonus 4 hours pay)
The shift Supervisor must be an experienced CNC Machinist to run jobs on CNC Lathes and Mills. You will be machining parts with aluminum.
We have 10 & Okuma 10 SS and Okuma 12 with OSB 300L Control (Okuma 10SS and 12 running with sub-spindle live tooling). Our machines are 3-Axis, 4-Axis and 5-Axis and Lathes have bar feeders.
Job Duties include, but not limited to:
- Supervise the operators: select jobs and machine assignments
- Train operators to perform their duties where machine operation and quality are concerned.
- Solve problems when needed with program edits, fast/speed changes and quality issues
- Responsible for making G and M Code adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain tolerances.
- Keep machine setup times to a minimum and production to acceptable output levels.
- Operators may at times assist in machine setups when two or more machines are down at the same time.
- Work with the CNC Programmer on improvements to programs.
- Train operators on machine setups when they have shown proficiency in operating their machine and successfully run quality parts.
- Perform basic routine maintenance of machines (clean and maintain, no mechanical repairs).
- Maintain all paperwork associated with producing the part and keeping company records.
- Observe safety policies and procedures snd operate in a safe manner.
Required experience & qualifications:
- 5+ years of CNC Machining manufacturing experience utilizing aluminum.
- Experienced as a Supervisor, able to train and guide a small team.
- Fluent in “Y” Lathes with live tooling and CNC Mills.
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
- Working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and can do metric to imperial conversions.
- Fluent in GD&T and machining blueprint reading.
- Skilled in part inspection and accountable to quality of parts
- OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred, OSHA 10-hour is minimum requirement
- Forklift Certification is preferred, can re-certify if has prior experience
Physical Demands
Ability to select, lift, carry, and stack product weighing between 30 and 50 pounds. The ability to stand up to a total of 10 hours, with breaks while occasionally bending, stooping, and twisting and do repetitive work for 2 to 4 hours at a time.
The station have anti-fatigue mats and stools available when needed.
