As a Principal .NET Engineer, you will lead the design and development of scalable distributed systems that power modern digital banking experiences. You will contribute to architecture decisions, build resilient backend solutions, and guide engineering teams in delivering secure, high-performance platforms.
- Design and develop scalable distributed backend services using modern .NET technologies.
- Architect integrations between digital banking platforms, payment systems, identity providers, and core banking applications.
- Lead technical design discussions and influence architecture strategies.
- Build resilient microservices capable of supporting high-volume financial transactions.
- Develop cloud-native applications with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with solution architects, product managers, UX teams, and engineering stakeholders.
- Review architecture and code to ensure high engineering standards and best practices.
- Mentor senior engineers and promote strong development practices across teams.
- Support modernization efforts by transforming legacy systems into distributed cloud-based platforms.
- Own solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from design and implementation through production support.
- Evaluate technical approaches and recommend improvements to system performance and architecture.
- Contribute to Agile development processes and continuous engineering improvement.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineer with deep expertise in .NET development, distributed systems, and enterprise architecture. You should have a strong understanding of cloud technologies, integration patterns, and financial technology environments, along with excellent communication and leadership skills.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Extensive experience building enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservice architectures.
- Strong experience designing scalable REST APIs and asynchronous messaging solutions.
- Experience with distributed application frameworks such as MassTransit.
- Experience designing and developing cloud-native applications on Azure.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server and enterprise data modeling.
- Advanced understanding of backend architecture principles and how they support user experiences.
- Experience working in Agile engineering environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with technologies such as .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure is preferred.
- Familiarity with CQRS, dependency injection frameworks such as Autofac, and event-driven architecture is a plus.
- Exposure to Java Spring Boot, Angular, front-end development, or full-stack engineering is beneficial.
- Experience with banking, fintech, financial services platforms, identity systems, or payment solutions is highly valued.
- Ability to balance scalability, performance, security, and maintainability when designing solutions.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and improve technical direction.

- Competitive compensation:
- Contract opportunity: approximately $75–100/hour depending on experience.
- Full-time opportunity: approximately $150,000–$175,000 annually.
