Job Description

WHAT IS THE ROLE ABOUT? As our Sr DevOps Engineer, you will be an expert when working collaboratively with our engineering teams to define, build, and manage our AWS infrastructure. Youll be on point to introduce new services and tools that support application development and enhance operational performance and visibility. You will work closely alongside the security team to strengthen system and data security safeguards, and to achieve security compliance certifications.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
- Work with senior engineers as well as the DevOps Director to deliver quality automated DevOps solutions when provided with a set of requirements.
- Fix issues related to CI/CD pipelines for our multiple software applications and environments to improve build, test, and deploy processes.
- Be an enthusiastic, careful and competent team member responsible for deploying various applications into production.
- Create and update Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to make changes to our cloud-based infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineer to create and maintain monitoring & alerting systems that guarantee high availability and performance for software applications.
- Serve in an on-call capacity when outages occur, providing assistance with troubleshooting and outage remediation.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned as needed.
YOU MUST HAVE(MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)
- High School Diploma/GED + related work experience
- 3+ years of solid work experience in a DevOps or Sr DevOps role
- Advanced knowledge of Terraform, Packer or Chef
- Advanced technical work experience with/within and knowledge of:
- Container orchestration tools (i.e. Kubernetes/EKS or ECS) in a production environment
- At least one coding language (i.e. Ruby)
- Building efficient CI/CD solutions
- Core AWS web application services (EC2, S3, Route53, RDS, etc.)
- SQL and document-oriented databases
- APM/logging services like Newrelic or Datadog
- Git and GitHub
- Hosting complex, large-scalable web applications
- Docker or other containerization tools
- Implementing and operating enterprise-scale monitoring tools including New Relic or Datadog
- Agile processes
- Flexible, fast-paced environments
- Advanced documentation skills
- Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to accurately translate and convey technical information to non-technical audience(s)
IDEAL IF YOU HAVE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)
- Project Management experience
- Hands-on experience with Ruby, Python or BASH
- Industry familiarity and experience in edtech
LOCATION: Remote or Hybrid/Remote
This position can be fully remote or local to Boston, MA. If remote, travel to Boston, MA office location a few times per year will be essential. If local to Boston, may be required to work a 2-day Hybrid in-office/3-day remote schedule. Candidates must reside in the United States to be considered. Relocation is not available for this position.
