CHMC –Children’s MHU-Mental Health Worker– Full Time- Day Shift – 7a-7:30p- Requisition 7935

Job Grade: 6 ($18.33-$23.47)*

A Mental Health Worker provides basic physiologic and psychosocial care, together with safety measures and environmental care, for mentally ill patients in an in-patient setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. May also be required to sit with a patient in a 1:1 situation if necessary. May be required to float to other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• BLS Certification and Crisis Intervention training within hospital orientation period.

• Knowledge and understanding/ability to work with mentally ill patients.

• Basic Computer knowledge.

• Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.

• Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies.

• Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security.

• Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities.

• Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the monitoring and documentation of information.

• Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.

• Acknowledging changes in a patient’s condition or behavior, and promptly reporting these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.

• Performing various intervention tasks assigned by the charge nurse.
