How You’ll Make an Impact

The Shipping & Receiving Lead ensures efficient shipping and receiving operations while serving as the point of contact for the department. This role includes all responsibilities of a Shipping & Receiving Coordinator, with the added duty of training new employees and ensuring adherence to inventory and packaging standards. The Lead will guide team members, monitor daily shipping activities, and coordinate with other departments. While not a supervisor, this role requires leadership, delegation, and continuous improvement of department processes.

What you’ll be doing as a Shipping & Receiving Lead:

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Simi Valley, CA location.
  • Perform all duties of the Shipping & Receiving Clerk, including processing purchase orders, verifying shipments, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Help direct team members by ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, assisting with workload distribution, and supporting team collaboration.
  • Train and mentor new shipping and receiving employees, ensuring proper understanding of inventory, packaging, and ERP transactions.
  • Act as the point of contact (POC) for all shipping and receiving inquiries from internal departments and external partners.
  • Oversee daily shipping activities, ensuring orders are processed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in inventory records and transactions while upholding packaging standards.
  • Accountable for organizing and maintaining inventory storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Monitor and follow up on Outside Processing Vendor (OSV) purchase orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordinate driving activities and optimize deliveries by utilizing vendor services where possible.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for receiving customer-furnished goods and castings.
  • Perform cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Order shipping supplies and maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Follow up on OSV purchase orders to ensure timely processing and delivery (WI 1082).
  • Coordinate driving activities by optimizing delivery schedules and utilizing processor delivery services when possible.
  • Receive customer castings and customer-furnished goods, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory updates.
  • Issue inventory to jobs, maintaining accuracy in ERP system transactions.
  • Manage the daily shipping list to ensure all shipments are processed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Order shipping supplies to maintain adequate stock levels and support seamless shipping operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
  • Ability to train and guide team members effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory transactions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably JobBOSS.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and delegate tasks while maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to serve as the department POC.
  • Commitment to upholding company packaging and inventory standards.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience:

  • Experience in a leadership, coaching, or mentoring role within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience training employees in inventory, packaging, and shipping procedures.
  • Familiarity with Outside Processing (OSP) and purchase order management.
  • Experience managing daily shipping lists and supply ordering.
  • Knowledge of best practices for inventory storage and organization.

  • Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs.

  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.

Work Environment:

A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Employee Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability and 401(k) with up to 6% QACA company match.

The Shipping & Receiving Lead Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $22-25/hr. commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
