Job Title: Maintenance Aide

Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM - Monday - Thursday

Position Summary
The Maintenance Aide supports the upkeep of public housing units and grounds through light repairs, painting, cleaning, and general maintenance. This role ensures units are move-in ready and common areas remain safe and clean. Work is performed independently or under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with unit turns: painting, minor repairs, and cleaning
• Perform light electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks
• Maintain and clean common areas, grounds, and public spaces
• Replace lighting, repair fixtures, and service small appliances
• Operate landscaping and maintenance tools/equipment
• Support pest control efforts and apply basic treatments
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work logs
• Assist Maintenance Mechanic and Property Management as needed

Qualifications

• Prior experience in maintenance, construction, or related trades
• Ability to read/follow instructions and perform physical tasks
• Proficient with hand and power tools
• Basic math and familiarity with maintenance procedures
• Valid driver's license and insurable record
• Able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions

Requirements

• Enroll in Alabama Certified Apprentice Program within 30 days
• Complete annual Fair Housing and Sexual Harassment training
