About This Position

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will play a critical part in the daily financial operations of the company, handling a variety of tasks such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Management, Inventory Accounting, Settlements, Driver Payroll and General Ledger (GL) Reconciliations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform and review reconciliations for bank accounts, vendor statements, customer balances, payroll/settlements, and other key GL accounts.

· Prepare, review, and maintain journal entries related to AP, AR, payroll, settlements, inventory, fixed assets, and accruals.

· Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely completion of reconciliations, schedules, and financial reporting.

· Review settlement activity for company drivers and owner-operators, ensuring accuracy of reimbursements, deductions, and compliance with contracts.

· Support the accuracy and valuation of inventory and fixed assets, including reconciliations, adjustments, disposals, and depreciation.

· Process and review compliance-related filings such as fuel and use taxes, insurance invoices, and claim recoveries.

· Research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies in accounting records, ensuring transactions are complete, supported, and compliant.

· Assist with external audits, providing documentation and explanations for account activity as needed.

· Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

· Serve as a resource to other team members and departments for accounting-related questions and issue resolution.

· Performs other special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

· Masters/Bachelor/Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field required.

· 5+ years related experience preferred.

· Multiple systems knowledge—the individual needs to be able to proficiently work in multiple systems at one time.

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting software.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to lead, mentor, and communicate effectively across departments.

· High degree of integrity required.

· Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Able to adapt to changing prioritization and last-minute adjustments.

· Excellent communication skills to work effectively with operations, fleet management, and vendors.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional on-site office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, camera, and fax machines.
