JOB SUMMARY

The Canal Coffee Company Assistant Manager is a staple to help our stores run smoothly. Assistant Managers can expect to be seen helping with scheduling, inventory, and training new staff, among other responsibilities. Our goal is to promote internally, so our Assistant Managers should be comfortable taking charge of a store when the store manager is not in store. The Assistant Manager will also be serving beverages such as handcrafted coffee, tea, and specialty items. They will also be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work areas. Outstanding customer service is a must as you will be promoting coffee consumption by educating customers, and determining their coffee interest and needs.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILTIES

· Ensure excellent customer service and that store standards are always met

· Responsible for scheduling of all shifts

· Responsible for preparing payroll

· Ability to provide input in all aspects from top to bottom

· Monitor staff to ensure outstanding customer service is being provided at all time and handle any guest concerns or complaints

· Must have experience in inventory control

· When needed have a willingness to cover a shift

· Must be in communication with all staff

· Must have strong abilities to make decisions

· Must have the ability to recognize talent or lack of talent

· Maintain communication with the Accounting department for documentation

· Provide a leadership presence by holding baristas accountable and taking control of a shift

· Work closely with General Manager to ensure consistent standards and procedures.

· Shared responsibilities in coaching and training of team members

· Ability to handle customer and vendor situations

· Ability to perform opening and closing procedures

· Provide quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.

· Provide amazing customer service experience to all customers by engaging with our customers and responding to their needs through friendly communication.

· Prepare beverages and food to standard recipes

· Complete daily checklists and tasks while also maintaining Jolt

· Keeping up store appearance and organization by maintaining a clean and organized workspace

· Ability to upsell by recommending products and accommodating purchases to enhance the customer experience and utilizing ToastGo

MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES

· Ensure organization and cleanliness of store.

· Responsible for out of stock awareness and ability to find other resources

· Ability to lift and carry boxes when unloading the delivery truck and ensure all items are put away

· Maintain all product levels within the store ensuring that items do not become out of stock. All items are first in first out

· Must be able to do milk runs

· Follows Canal Coffee’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling

· Must have mostly open availability

· Responsible for daily bank runs

· Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB

· Education (Minimum Need): High School or equivalent education

· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred

· Effective leadership techniques, decision making, and reporting/analysis skills

· Maintain regular and consistent attendance

· Experience (Minimum Needed): Preferably supervisory and/or barista experience in high volume café or coffee shop (1+ years)

· Computer Skills (experience with Word and Excel)

· Meet store operating policies and standards

KEY COMPETENCIES

· Strong Leadership and Management experience (6+ Months)

· Strong problem solving skills

· Maintain appearance per company policy

· Ability to direct others

· Minimum of 18 years old

· Strong timekeeping skills

· Cash handling experience

· Ability to build relationships and thrive in a teamwork atmosphere

· Ability to work with the public

· Strong positive attitude and interpersonal skills

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

· Hospitality shop and/or coffee shop experience (1 year)

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Inventory experience

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Ability to ask questions and receive feedback

· Experience in inventory control

· Must be outgoing and personable
