Job Overview:
The IT Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for managing technology related equipment, information systems, processes and compliance for the pharmacy department as well as supporting the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal patients.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy
- Minimum three years of acute care/hospital pharmacy experience
Preferred:
- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications
- Experience with clinical informatics, EPIC, automated dispensing cabinets, and automated inventory carousel technology
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Current New Jersey State license as Registered Pharmacist in good standing
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day shift
- Full Time
Essential Functions:
- Plans efficient and effective utilization of resources
- Serves as a frontline resource for all Pharmacy employees
- Participate in management and medication safety meetings weekly
- Monitor and make changes in work queue list in order to prevent revenue loss
- Promotes positive relations and actively contributes to a positive work environment
- Assists in planning, monitoring, and maintaining budget in functional area of department
- Monitor charge router and reconciliation report to ensure charges are accurate and flowing correctly
- Participate on Vizient Operational Database project to ensure productivity is maintained at the correct levels
- Assists with project planning, installation, testing and maintenance of new pharmacy-related information systems
- Manages policies related to information systems and other areas as designated in collaboration with leadership
- Provides guidance, training, support and ongoing maintenance of information systems related to the provision of pharmaceutical care
- Assists the Director and Assistant Director in meeting the mission and vision to promote patient safety, formulary compliance, cost-effective practice, teamwork, productivity, and positive patient outcomes
- Actively participates with external departments at the local and system level to support optimizing patient care and best practice
- Provides leadership and direction to Pharmacy team members especially as related to use of information system/technology
- Other duties as assigned
