About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
Human Resource Generalist at the Dayton Art Institute supports the day-to-day operations of the human resource office. This role contributes to recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, training, HRIS administration, payroll support, compliance with employment laws and internal policies, as well as supporting a range of additional HR-related tasks and special projects as needed.
By collaborating closely with the Human Resource Director and other museum staff, the Human Resource Generalist helps ensure efficient and consistent HR processes while supporting the institutes' mission and strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides full-cycle recruitment activities, including management of ATS workflows, scheduling interviews, conducting reference and background checks, facilitating pre-employment screenings, and on-boarding activities.
- Works with Human Resource Director and hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state/local employment and benefits laws and regulations
- Ensures timeliness and accuracy of bi-weekly payroll processes.
- Provides support in filing compliance reports annually and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to legal regulations.
- Provides support in the coordination of health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration.
- Coaches and advises employees and management regarding various human resource policies, practices and procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations.
- Communicates proactively and work with managers to resolve employee concerns and issues and identify administrative needs that occur on a routine basis.
- Participates in administrative meetings and attends other HR or volunteer meetings and seminars, career fairs, community network events, etc., as needed.
- Assists in creating and implementing all employee training
- Assists in maintaining HRIS records and compiles reports, as requested.
- Assists in planning, managing, and communicating special projects and programs such as employee recognition, wellness, benefits, recruiting, performance management, employee surveys and other special projects and duties as designated by Human Resource Director or assigned designee.
- Manages the access card distribution process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Human Resource Generalist has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 -4 years of HR or administrative support experience; Or any similar combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Payroll/HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and/or benefits administration preferred.
- Talent in clear, positive, and effective communication to multiple audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is primarily based in an office setting, with regular movement throughout museum offices, galleries, storage areas, and other public facing spaces. The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods and communicating effectively in person and through electronic communication. Occasional lifting of materials up to approximately 20 lbs may be required. Work schedules may include occasional evenings, weekends, or special events depending on museum programming and operational needs.
