About This Position

Summary:

The Shift Supervisor ensures the smooth running and supervision of all residence related staff and services on a day to day basis, ensuring that all residence goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day work of residence staff to ensure participant success.
  • Motivate and coach reporting staff to excel.
  • Provide for full shift coverage and provide emergency coverage as necessary.
  • Coordinate/conduct rounds to monitor the facility.
  • Maintain professional relationships with residents ensuring confidentiality.
  • Ensure all shelter activities and schedules are maintained.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors and funders.
  • Investigate all complaints and/or incidents.
  • Monitor residents safety and ensure safety policies and procedures are practiced daily.
  • Implement preventive measures through crisis intervention and conflict resolution modalities.
  • Implement and oversee proper recording and reporting systems for resident and staff safety.
  • Prepare incident reports.
  • Provide daily coverage reports to on coming shift supervisor.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • BA/BS degree and/or equivalent experience, or AA degree and 2 years’ experience;

    HS Diploma or GED and 3 years applicable experience. Obtain F-80 certification within first 90 days of employment

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation and problem-solving functions of this role.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.
  • Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented.
  • Remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision.
  • Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
