Job Description:

About the Role

You will assist with the month-end closing of the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow. You will report to the Manager, FMA, Accounting in our hybrid model at our New Jersey office.

You Will:

Income Statement
  • Assist with Acquisitions accounting including designing of new processes.
  • Be the Co-owner of Newsprint accounting for both owned plant locations and contract print.
  • Revenue recognition accounting includes knowledge of existing systems as well as assistance with new system integration related to the BRIM project.
  • Ensure expenses are properly recognized and accrued if necessary.
  • Work with the business and the Financial Planning and Analysis team to prepare monthly variances to budget and prior year for the current period, quarter and year to date.
  • Participate in monthly closing meetings to discuss variances and ensure that the results are complete.
  • Handle Journal entry calculations for accruals for monthly closing.
  • Do Monthly Journal entry review.
  • Handle Ad hoc analyses.

Balance Sheet
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for select balance sheet accounts including investigation of any differences.
  • Partner with other departments to provide insight into remaining balances and to clear any open items over 2 months old.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation review.

Cash Flow
  • Provide cash flow support for associated area, as part of the monthly cash flow actuals and forecasting process.

Other
  • Role also includes special projects to support management. Skills needed would include analytical, communication, the ability to embrace change, and a strong desire to learn.

You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience, and 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with a general ledger system required.
  • SAP and Analytics for Office (Preferred).
  • Public Accounting background (Preferred).
  • Proficiency with Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, and PowerPoint.
