About This Position
The Safety & Transport Technician provides clinical support services by transporting patients to and from patient care areas, providing one-on-one observation, and assisting in the progression of patient mobility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for transport to and from patient care areas, making special considerations for patients in contact and/or airborne precautions.
- Utilizes safe moving techniques and appropriate equipment for transferring or lifting patients.
- Promotes the progression of patient transport through safe patient transfer assistance, therapeutic exercises, and transport activities.
- Provides 1:1 continuous supervision (as assigned) to patients who require observation for safety reasons without family or caregivers.
- Maintains a safe environment conducive to effective team functioning and positive patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities when necessary.
- Maintains clear lines of communication to ensure patient safety, care coordination, and teamwork.
- Responds to calls for assistance in a timely and friendly manner.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities for Team Lead, Safety & Transport Technician:
- Responds to the orientation and developmental needs of assigned staff.
- Involved with the day-to-day operation of the department, such as reviewing and delegating daily tasks.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of the hire date required.
