Job Description

Title: Inside Director of Sales

Location: North Sioux City, SD

Reports to: Vice President of SLED | Commercial

Job Description: The Director of Sales will oversee a team of Sales Inside Account Managers Account and Inside Sales Representatives. The Director of Sales is responsible for planning, developing, and executing sales growth strategies, tactics, and action plans to meet both short-term and long-term sales goals. Additionally, he or she is expected to participate and provide leadership for his or her sales team in activities such as identifying and strategizing on driving business opportunities in target markets, developing and communicating strategies to the OEM’s, leading change management initiatives and meeting team sales objectives.

Required Technical Skills: The Director of Sales should have proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. A strong proficiency in general computer skills is also required. The ability to comfortably present, communicate, and interact over various video and voice communication mediums is required.

Required Education: The Director of Sales should have at least (5) years overall experience in sales related activities. Significant sales leadership experience is also required. A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required; however, significant experience and a proven record of success in lieu of a degree may be acceptable.

  • Possess working knowledge of customers purchasing methods, IT initiatives, and organizational structure from past experience.
  • Have established contacts and connections within accounts from working with them in the past.
  • Substantial experience in developing territory and account sales strategies to enhance sales growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the activities, pipeline, and sales of his or her assigned team of salespersons.
  • Identify and develop a win strategy for key contracts and programs within customer accounts and/or System Integrators that will ensure company sales targets are met.
  • Possess and continue to develop a strong working knowledge of OEM programs and price structures to enable effective development of contract and deal win strategies.
  • Show the ability to develop strong relationships with the OEM’s and work with them to develop mutually beneficial strategies that will provide value to the OEM and sales growth for Sterling, particularly as it relates to Inside leaders and sellers.
  • Identify sales territories and effectively allocate resources to ensure company sales targets are met in coordination with field sales territory needs.
  • Proactively monitor and strive to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales organization’s planning efforts.
  • As needed, coordinate planning activities with other functions and stakeholders within the firm.
  • Continually develop and manage sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Manage sales staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Work to ensure all sales organization objectives are assigned in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately and effectively develop and communicate progress reports on key performance indicators to executive management.
  • Build peer support and strong internal-company relationships with other key management personnel.
