About This Position
Job Overview:
The Human Resource Generalist will provide support with the day-to-day HR function in the areas of recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, benefits, and assisting frontline team members with all HR related support needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Engagement and Culture
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees, ensuring their needs are addressed.
- Foster a positive workplace culture by supporting initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being.
- Plan and execute employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
Recruiting and Onboarding
- Partner with hiring managers to recruit hourly roles and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
- Support learning and development programs to help team members grow in their roles and achieve their career goals.
- Support with New Hire Orientation through sending out communication, presenting and answering questions related to the HR section.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Manage day-to-day HR activities to include making changes in HRIS, assisting with audits for accuracy and ensure compliance including I9s and local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment and answering benefits-related questions and assisting with leave of absences.
- Maintain employee files, including benefits, compensation, change and attendance records.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and documents.
Conflict Resolution and Support
- Provide guidance on employee relations issues for attendance, coaching, and up to 1st Warning at the frontline level.
- Addressing employee questions, concerns, and grievances.
- Providing guidance on company policies, attendance, and performance expectations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assisting with skip-level meetings and employee feedback sessions.
- Supporting HR leadership with reports, metrics, and data tracking.
- Collaborate with HR team, management, and all employees to ensure alignment with PortCity Core values
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred
- 2-5 years human resources experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the human resources field
- Understanding of state and federal employment regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required.
Physical Effort:
Work is physically strenuous, and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light duty options may be available.
