Assistant Director of Nursing at Bayley Senior Care Corp – Cincinnati, Ohio

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the organization and administration of the Nursing Department. The ADON works closely with front-line nursing supervisors to monitor the quality of patient care, orient and evaluate new employees; promote effective communication (inter and intra-departmental), and provide a quality work environment through teaming principles. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the ADON assumes the Director of Nursing duties.

1. Responsible, along with the Director of Nursing, for the general morale of staff. Provides a quality work environment through teaming principles, effective team leadership, and a demonstrated positive attitude.
2. Participates in the hiring, discipline, development, and evaluation of personnel.
3. Proactive in the development, maintenance, and updating of policies and procedures
4. Organized and administers nursing services
5. Directs and supervises professional and non-professional nursing staff
6. Delegates authority commensurate with responsibility
7. Assists in adhering to budgeted figures for labor by having staff scheduled according to budgeted hours
8. Monitors and coordinates Nursing Service functions to ensure that department is operating in accordance with Federal and State standards
9. Ensures patients' medical records are completed accurately and on a timely basis, updates Patient Care Policy Manual
10. Promotes good inter/intra-departmental communications and consults as necessary with all departments
11. Monitors and evaluates patient care and safety by daily communication with nurses, supervisors, and physicians
12. Assumes duties of Director of Nursing in their absence
13. Responsible for assisting in maintaining quality staff and staffing
14. Assist in overseeing an effective departmental orientation program
15. Directs evaluation of new employees prior to their completion of a 90-day orientation period
16. Demonstrates professionalism; supports facility Administrator, maintains confidentiality, and adheres to Facility policies and State and Federal guidelines
17. Assist in counseling residents and families as needed
18. Demonstrates good management skills by utilizing ability to work through staff to effect highest level quality of care for residents
19. Attends mandatory in-services annually and attends other pertinent outside seminars
20. Participation in local Long Term Care organizations is encouraged
21. Responsible for the assessment of village residents
22. Responsible for assessments of health care residents prior to admission
23. Performs other duties as requested/required

• B.S.S./Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
• R.N. License in the State of Ohio (Gerontology Certification preferred)
• Knowledge of Federal Regulation, Medicare and Medicaid
• Five years of staff nursing, with three years in a supervisory capacity
• Geriatric experience in long-term care required
