About This Position

Description: Position Summary

Serves as the primary contractor lead for all Opposition Forces (OPFOR) operations supporting Air Force Security Forces readiness training at Desert Defender. Coordinates training scenarios with Government representatives, schedules and manages 29 OPFOR personnel, and ensures realistic threat replication across all training exercises.

Requirements: Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all OPFOR training scenarios with Desert Defender instructors, the COR, and Government representatives to ensure training areas are prepared and ready prior to each event
  • Schedule and manage all Junior OPFOR personnel to meet daily staffing requirements of 30 role players per duty day
  • Serve as the primary contractor interface with the Operations NCOIC and Flight Chiefs for scheduling, locations, and training timelines
  • Integrate into military training scenarios using real military weapons, equipment, and vehicles in roles such as hostile forces, snipers, friendly forces, police, terrorists, merchants, rioters, refugees, and dignitaries
  • Ensure all weapons and attachments are properly cleaned and returned upon completion of each duty day
  • Assist with the coordination and transportation of ammunitions, arms, and equipment (no handling of LIVE ammunition)
  • Ensure all OPFOR personnel wear culturally appropriate clothing representative of the area of operations (e.g., Iraq, Africa, or emergent threat locations) during exercises
  • Operate Government-owned or rented vehicles including HMMWVs, pickup trucks, vans, and stake-bed/light duty trucks as required
  • Prepare and submit Post-Exercise Performance Summaries within 48 hours of each major training event
  • Maintain personnel readiness records including security clearances, NDAs, qualifications, and staffing metrics
  • Develop and maintain the Scenario Integration & Realism Plan detailing adversary TTP emulation, updated quarterly
  • Generate duty schedules, status reports, and other administrative products using Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of military experience in a combat-related career field
  • Operational experience in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), or other recent combat operational environments
  • Operational experience in weapons and tactical training, operational planning and execution, qualification and employment of weapons and weapons systems, and communications equipment
  • Must meet arming and use of force standards per AFI 31-117 and comply with Gun Control Act of 1968 requirements; current DD Form 2760 required
  • Texas Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) — capable of safely operating a 42–45 passenger bus (26,001 lbs GVWR)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Must read, understand, speak, and write English
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements
  • Capable of lifting and carrying over 40 pounds without fatigue or injury
  • Able to safely maneuver in a desert environment for hard and realistic combat training scenarios
  • Able to stand outdoors for 4-hour intervals in all weather conditions (heat, wind, cold, rain, snow)
  • Able to maintain mobility including running in a desert environment
  • Comfortable with physical restraint (e.g., handcuffs/zip-ties) during training scenarios
  • Must self-supply water and sustenance for up to 12-hour periods without departing training areas
  • Physical contact may be required during training scenarios
