Job Description
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Administrative Director Support Services, supervises, assigns, reviews and
participates in the work of staff responsible for the 24 hour a day operation of the Alarm and Communications
Center. Receives and dispatches 444, emergency and non-emergency calls from the public for security and
maintenance personnel. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; performs
the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility and serves as the Custodian
of Records for Dispatch Services. Manages the COVID Screening program, and all staff assigned to this function. Aids the
Director of Support Services with Security Scheduling.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1.SUPERVISION– Responsible for supervision, evaluation and counseling; communicating verbally in a clear and effective manner; obtaining information from hostile or traumatized individuals in emergency situations; handling multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail; understanding and
following oral and written directions; exercising sound, independent judgment and decision making
within established guidelines; maintaining accurate records and preparing clear and concise reports
and materials; operating a computer keyboard at sufficient speed and with sufficient accuracy to enter
data into an on-line computer system; using common office software to include Microsoft Office and
applicable specialized software; providing outstanding customer satisfaction (both internally and
externally). Acts as Primary lead for the System’s new employee and medical staff orientation
programs for all Safety and Security. Assists in managing the schedule of the Safety and Security
Department at times when the Administrative Director of Support Services is unavailable due to
responsibilities in the Command Center.
2.EMERGENCY DISPATCHING - Obtains accurate information from the caller upon answering the emergency calls and/or radio communications.
Prioritizes Disseminates and Transmits accurate information in a timely manner to hospital Security, Code Teams
and/or specialized personnel. Requests additional assistance as needed from local police, fire, and/or ems
agencies. Enters pertinent information into (CAD) Computer Aided Dispatch system, generates and distributes
reports in RMS report writing system. Maintains contact with all security and maintenance staff assigned;
maintains status and location of all personnel. Analyzes situations accurately and takes effective action to help
assure officer and public safety. Has access to update information within the Switchboard database.
3.PANIC ALARM SYSTEMS - Monitors SARA and RAVE panic alarm systems and dispatches officers for panic alarm activations. Communicates with 911 to resolve offsite panic alarms.
4.FIRE ALARM AND OTHER CRITICAL ALARM SYSTEMS - Acts as a 24 Hour Monitoring station for Fire Alarms at the Main Campus. Monitors and dispatches officers according to protocol for all Hospitals Fire Alarms Acknowledges, Signal Silences and Resets Fire Alarm Conducts Overhead Pages for Fire Alarms Receives Elevator Emergency Calls. Operates and maintains surveillance and alarm systems. Monitors Hugs Infant Abduction System, Medical Gas Alarms, SNS Stockplie Alarm, and Temperature Alarms. Documents/Reports activations per protocol.
5.ACCESS CONTROL AND CAMERA SYSTEM -Assist in the issuance of the healthcare systems access control badges, CCTV camera system and vehicle permits. Operates CCTV computers, and ID badging equipment. Resolves access control, and CCTV system concerns. Ensures recordkeeping follows appropriate hospital and regulatory requirements. Entrusts the privacy/security of personal information presented during the badging application process and ensures its protection from unauthorized use. Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of assigned programs. 21/2018
6.EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DUTIES - Provides high level service and support to Hunterdon Healthcare Systems emergency management program and serves in an Emergency Management capacity in the absence of the Emergency Preparedness and Safety Specialist and Administrative Director of Safety and Security. Manages staff mass notification programs. Able to serve in any Incident Command System position as assigned during training, exercises, and EOC activations.
7.WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAM -Acts as the Chairperson for the Hunterdon Healthcare System Workplace Violence Prevention Committee. Reports to the Environment of Care Steering Committee. Participates in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with state and local law, regulatory guidelines and organizational policies and procedures related to Workplace Violence. Makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures. Develops, Organizes, and Conducts organizational training related to Workplace Violence Prevention.

Previous telephone phone experience is strongly preferred. Previous experience in a medical office. Medical Terminology experience.
