Academic Systems Administrator
Manhattan School of Computer Technology (MSCT) – Brooklyn, NY
Department: Administration / Information Technology

Reports To: Campus Executive Director / Leadership Team
Position Summary
Manhattan School of Computer Technology (MSCT) is seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Academic Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize the school's core academic and student information systems.
This position will serve as the primary systems administrator for Orbund (SIS), Canvas (LMS), and the school's CRM platform, ensuring that these systems work together effectively to support Admissions, Financial Aid, Education, Student Services, Career Services, and institutional reporting.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with an understanding of higher education operations, data management, reporting, system integrations, and user support.
Primary Systems
Orbund – Student Information System (SIS)
Canvas – Learning Management System (LMS)
CRM / Admissions Management System
Microsoft 365 and related institutional applications
Reporting, database, and integration tools
Key Responsibilities
Orbund – SIS Administration
Serve as the primary administrator for the Orbund Student Information System.
Maintain student records, programs, courses, terms, schedules, and system configurations.
Create and maintain custom fields, forms, workflows, and reports.
Develop operational reports for Admissions, Financial Aid, Education, Student Services, Career Services, and Leadership.
Monitor data accuracy and troubleshoot system-related issues.
Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and departmental access.
Assist departments with extracting and analyzing student data.
Support integrations and data exchanges between Orbund and other institutional systems.
Work with vendors and internal departments to troubleshoot system issues and implement enhancements.
Canvas – LMS Administration
Serve as the primary administrator for the Canvas Learning Management System.
Create and manage courses, terms, sections, users, roles, and permissions.
Support faculty with course setup, enrollment, grading, attendance-related workflows, and instructional technology.
Develop standardized course templates and institutional Canvas structures.
Manage student and faculty access.
Troubleshoot Canvas-related technical issues.
Support integrations between Canvas, Orbund, and other systems when applicable.
Assist Education leadership with monitoring course activity and academic reporting.
Maintain appropriate security and access controls.
CRM Administration
Administer and optimize the school's CRM system for lead and enrollment management.
Manage users, permissions, lead assignments, workflows, fields, forms, and automation.
Maintain Admissions pipelines from lead → appointment → interview → enrollment → start.
Create dashboards and reports for Admissions and Leadership.
Monitor lead sources, campaign performance, conversion rates, enrollment activity, and representative performance.
Support automated communications, tasks, reminders, and follow-up workflows.
Maintain data quality and identify duplicate or incomplete records.
Support integrations between the CRM, website, phone systems, SIS, and other platforms.
Reporting & Data Analytics
Develop dashboards and recurring operational reports for leadership.
Create reports using system reporting tools, database queries, and SQL where applicable.
Validate information across Canvas, Orbund, CRM, and other institutional systems.
Identify discrepancies and work with departments to correct data.
Assist leadership with enrollment, retention, attendance, academic, financial aid, and operational reporting.
Automate recurring reports whenever possible.
Maintain documentation for report definitions, calculations, and data sources.
Systems Integration & Automation
Identify opportunities to reduce manual data entry and duplicate work.
Support integrations between CRM → Orbund → Canvas and other institutional systems.
Work with vendors on APIs, data imports/exports, SFTP processes, and system integrations when applicable.
Test system updates, new features, workflows, and integrations before implementation.
Develop processes that improve data accuracy and departmental efficiency.
User Support & Training
Provide technical support to faculty and staff.
Create system procedures, training guides, and documentation.
Train new employees on appropriate systems based on their roles.
Maintain user access and deactivate accounts when appropriate.
Coordinate with vendors when issues require escalation.
Communicate system updates and changes to affected departments.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Systems, Education Technology, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Experience administering an SIS, LMS, CRM, or comparable enterprise system.
Strong knowledge of databases, reporting, and data management.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work with multiple departments and translate operational needs into system solutions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to manage confidential student and institutional information appropriately.
Preferred:
Direct experience with Orbund.
Direct experience administering Canvas LMS.
Experience administering a CRM used for Admissions or enrollment management.
SQL experience and ability to create or modify database queries.
Experience with APIs, system integrations, data imports/exports, or workflow automation.
Experience working in a college, career school, vocational school, or higher-education environment.
Familiarity with student enrollment, attendance, academic progress, financial aid, and compliance-related reporting.
