Job Description

Electrical Engineering Expert

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Electrical Engineering Expert based in the United States.

This remote, project-based opportunity is designed for senior electrical engineering professionals with substantial enterprise and industrial experience.
You’ll help build sophisticated evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in complex electrical engineering and product design environments.
The work reflects the design complexity, safety requirements, regulatory considerations, and production scale found in major technology and industrial organizations.
You’ll develop realistic engineering scenarios, reference solutions, and evaluation criteria that capture senior-level technical judgment.
Projects may span power systems, grid infrastructure, semiconductor and PCB design, embedded systems, signal processing, and control systems.
You’ll work across US and international standards frameworks, depending on your expertise and qualifications.
The engagement is fully remote and flexible, offering an opportunity to apply your engineering experience to the development of advanced AI systems.

Accountabilities
  • Construct realistic enterprise electrical engineering scenarios covering complex circuit and systems design, multi-stakeholder design reviews, manufacturing processes, and regulatory certification activities.
  • Develop evaluation tasks across areas such as power systems and grid infrastructure, semiconductor and PCB design, embedded systems and firmware, signal processing, and control systems.
  • Create scenarios involving professional engineering tools and platforms, including Altium Designer, Cadence, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE simulation environments, and enterprise PLM/EDA systems.
  • Apply established electrical engineering methodologies, including circuit analysis and simulation, EMC/EMI compliance, control theory, reliability engineering, and failure mode analysis.
  • Develop reference design specifications, engineering analyses, and executive-level technical narratives appropriate for complex enterprise environments.
  • Apply relevant standards and regulatory frameworks, including US standards such as NEC/NFPA 70, NESC, and IEEE, and international IEC standards.
  • Author detailed evaluation rubrics that distinguish authentic senior-level electrical engineering judgment from generic textbook knowledge or coursework-level responses.
  • Ensure evaluation tasks accurately reflect real-world engineering constraints, safety considerations, regulatory requirements, and cross-functional design governance.
  • Collaborate with the broader research team to refine scenarios and evaluation criteria while working asynchronously.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working as an electrical engineer or engineering lead within a major technology, industrial, energy, or other large-scale engineering organization.
  • Demonstrated experience owning large-scale circuit designs, power systems, product engineering initiatives, or engineering certification programs.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise electrical engineering methodologies, design processes, and cross-functional engineering governance.
  • Fluency with relevant engineering tools and environments, such as Altium Designer, Cadence, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, PLM, or EDA platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical safety standards, regulatory certification, and compliance frameworks, including NEC/NFPA 70, NESC, IEEE, UL, FCC, and/or IEC.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering practices into realistic scenarios, reference outputs, and structured evaluation criteria.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical reasoning, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to distinguish practical, production-ready engineering judgment from theoretical or incomplete responses.
  • Experience working with either the US standards track (NEC/NFPA 70, NESC, IEEE) or the International track (IEC); expertise in both is welcome.
  • A professional engineering credential such as a US PE or international equivalent, such as CEng or EUR ING, is a plus.
  • Previous experience developing engineering training curricula, technical documentation, evaluation rubrics, or design specifications is also advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment.
Benefits
  • Compensation: $70–$80 per hour.
  • Fully remote opportunity for professionals based in the United States.
  • Flexible work that can generally be completed on your own schedule.
  • Independent contractor engagement.
  • Weekly payments through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
  • Opportunity to apply advanced electrical engineering expertise to the development of AI evaluation and training systems.
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.
  • Work does not require access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
  • Opportunity to contribute to technically sophisticated projects spanning electrical design, power systems, electronics, controls, and engineering standards.
  • Please note: H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported for this opportunity.
