Your Mission:
The Tool Crib Co-op supports daily operations by assisting with issuing, receiving, organizing, and maintaining hand tools, consumables, and NAVSEA-controlled filler materials. This entry-level role is designed for Michigan high-school students seeking hands-on experience in an industrial environment while learning inventory control, traceability, and basic shop support functions.
Requirements:Explore the Depth of the Role:
- Tool inventory tracking including counting, organizing, and documenting tool status.
- Microsoft Excel tracking for tool usage, inventory updates, and simple logs.
- Issuing tools and consumables to support welding and fabrication operations.
- Issuing and receiving NAVSEA filler material and weld wire under supervision.
- Maintaining traceability of all NAVSEA-controlled materials following established procedures.
- Inspecting and maintaining tools for wear, defects, and cleanliness.
- Supporting shop staff with general tool crib tasks and other duties as assigned.
Mission Readiness:
- Must be a current high school student.
- Must obtain and maintain a Michigan work permit issued through the school district.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to follow basic verbal and written instructions.
- Must have good communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Must be punctual, reliable, ad organized with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Travel Requirements:
As needed between facilities
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
- May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver.
