Job Description

Mid-Sr Designer, Global Navigation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Sr Designer, Global Navigation based in Canada.

The Mid-Sr Designer will shape global navigation and search experiences across a complex, enterprise-scale digital ecosystem.
You’ll move fluidly between design initiatives, responding to evolving priorities while maintaining a consistently high level of craft.
The role combines visual design, interaction design, UX problem-solving, and systems thinking to improve key user journeys.
You’ll collaborate closely with design, product, engineering, and design-system teams to create cohesive and scalable experiences.
Your work will help establish reusable navigation and search patterns that can be applied consistently across digital products.
The environment values adaptability, autonomy, collaboration, and the ability to quickly build context in ambiguous situations.
This is an opportunity for a thoughtful designer to make a meaningful impact on high-visibility experiences while contributing directly to a mature design system.

Accountabilities
  • Deliver end-to-end UX and visual design solutions for global navigation and search experiences based on evolving business and product priorities.
  • Move effectively between navigation and search initiatives as team capacity, user needs, and organizational priorities change.
  • Collaborate closely with design leads and cross-functional partners to solve complex UX challenges, develop interface architectures, and deliver polished visual experiences.
  • Maintain consistency across navigation and search surfaces, ensuring cohesive interactions and visual patterns throughout primary user journeys.
  • Partner with design-system teams to contribute reusable components, UI patterns, interaction models, and documentation for navigation and search experiences.
  • Rapidly absorb existing research, product context, technical constraints, and user requirements when transitioning into new workstreams.
  • Identify common patterns and opportunities across different surfaces and apply systemic thinking to create scalable solutions.
  • Balance detailed visual execution with broader UX considerations, ensuring designs are both intuitive and technically feasible.
  • Communicate design rationale and decisions clearly to product stakeholders, engineering leaders, business partners, and other non-design audiences.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, contribution-based design culture through knowledge sharing, feedback, and cross-functional partnership.
Requirements
  • 3–6+ years of professional digital product design experience, particularly across enterprise products, complex web applications, or large-scale digital ecosystems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, or a comparable discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating strong visual and UI craft alongside end-to-end UX problem-solving and design processes.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments with changing priorities and multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new domains, user requirements, existing research, technical constraints, and business context.
  • Strong proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Experience working within collaborative, component-based design systems and contributing directly to shared pattern libraries.
  • Strong systemic-thinking skills, with the ability to recognize recurring patterns and translate them into scalable design solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex design decisions to executives, engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in embedded agency, consulting, or similarly dynamic environments where priorities can shift rapidly is advantageous.
  • Experience designing enterprise search, discovery experiences, global navigation, headers, or footers at scale is a plus.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated enterprise environments is beneficial.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with modular content structures is an advantage.
  • A curious, adaptable, detail-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate, receive feedback, and continuously improve.
Benefits
  • Compensation: Approximately US$64/hour, with the final rate determined based on qualifications and experience.
  • Remote work: Fully remote working environment.
  • Flexible schedule: Standard Monday–Friday business hours with flexibility suited to a remote work model.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to work alongside experienced technology professionals and expand your skills through continuous learning.
  • Collaborative culture: Join a people-focused environment that values teamwork, inclusion, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
  • Training opportunities: Access to ongoing development and training designed to support career progression.
  • Meaningful work: Contribute to high-impact digital experiences and scalable design solutions within a complex global ecosystem.
  • Occasional travel: Opportunity for occasional travel to headquarters for conferences, workshops, or collaborative sessions.
  • Inclusive workplace: A commitment to equal opportunity, accessibility, diversity, and an environment where individuals can contribute and grow.
