Job Overview:
The Lead Operations Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations and field service activities. This position provides leadership across, fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and field service functions while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work. The role requires flexibility to fill critical operational gaps and support departments as business demands require.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Leadership
• Provide hands-on leadership and direction across, fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and field service activities.
• Monitor daily operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved.
• Coordinate manpower and resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Support the Plant Manager in executing operational priorities and meeting departmental objectives.
Cross-Functional Support
• Fill critical positions and provide operational support as business needs demand.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Project Management teams to resolve issues and maintain efficient workflows.
• Assist in planning and prioritizing work to meet customer requirements and project timelines.
• Support Machine Shop supervision in the absence of the lead.
People Development
• Train, mentor, and develop shop and field personnel.
• Assist with employee scheduling, performance management, and workforce planning.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Safety and Quality
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
• Promote a safe working environment and participate in safety initiatives.
• Support quality assurance efforts and ensure adherence to established standards and procedures.
• Assist in identifying and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and operational performance.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support implementation of best practices and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Associate degree or technical training in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, fabrication, machining, assembly, or field service.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, welding, machining, assembly, and maintenance activities.
• Ability to lead by example and work hands-on alongside employees.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business requirements.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and quality management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems is desirable.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and occasionally travel to field service sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform physical activities associated with shop and field operations
