This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Motor & Drive Applications Specialist based in United States.
This is a hands-on technical sales support role focused on complex industrial motor and drive applications.
You will serve as a senior technical resource for challenging RFQs, major projects, and specification-driven opportunities.
The role spans medium-voltage motors and drives, large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, frame conversions, and manufacturer substitutions.
You will partner closely with inside and outside sales teams to translate customer requirements into technically sound solutions.
From reviewing specifications and drawings to coordinating with manufacturers, you will own the application process through proposal development and order handoff.

- Manage complex quotations for large and medium-voltage motors, drives, and major projects from initial RFQ through order handoff.
- Support sales professionals with motor selection, drive applications, technical questions, specifications, and problem-solving.
- Review RFQs, bid packages, drawings, motor nameplates, equipment information, and technical specifications to determine appropriate solutions.
- Evaluate application requirements including horsepower, speed, voltage, frequency, enclosure, cooling method, bearings, thrust, service factor, starting requirements, mounting, and hazardous-location considerations.
- Develop replacement solutions for obsolete motors and equipment, including frame upgrades, dimensional evaluations, and manufacturer substitutions.
- Cross-reference products across manufacturers and identify technically appropriate alternatives.
- Specify accessories and instrumentation such as space heaters, RTDs, vibration sensors, bearing temperature devices, and related options.
- Provide technical support for medium-voltage motor opportunities and variable frequency drive applications.
- Work directly with manufacturers to obtain product selections, pricing, drawings, lead times, and technical clarification.
- Identify specification exceptions, deviations, alternatives, and potential application issues before proposals are submitted.
- Create polished, customer-ready quotation packages covering proposed solutions, scope of supply, technical data, drawings, options, exceptions, and supporting documentation.
- Manage quotation revisions and technical clarifications throughout the sales cycle and engage directly with customers when technical expertise can help define or advance an opportunity.
- 5+ years of relevant electric motor, drive, or closely related industry experience required; 10+ years preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electric motors, motor applications, and application engineering principles.
- Significant medium-voltage motor and/or drive experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, frame conversions, and manufacturer cross-referencing.
- Strong knowledge of motor enclosure and cooling designs, including TEFC, WPI, WPII, TEAAC, TEWAC, and similar configurations.
- Familiarity with hazardous-location requirements, bearings, thrust applications, starting considerations, motor accessories, and instrumentation.
- Ability to interpret motor nameplates, dimensional drawings, technical specifications, bid documents, and other engineering information.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and responding to complex commercial and technical bid packages.
- Ability to independently assess complicated RFQs, determine appropriate offerings, and develop technically complete proposals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to turn complex technical and commercial information into clear, professional customer-facing quotation packages.
- Excellent communication, follow-up, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- VFD application experience is highly desirable.
- Comfortable using CRM and ERP systems, Microsoft Office, email, and other sales technologies.
- An engineering degree is not required; practical industry experience, technical judgment, and the ability to solve complex motor and drive applications are highly valued.
- Base salary of $110,000–$150,000, depending on experience and technical expertise.
- Exceptional candidates with extensive medium-voltage motor and drive expertise may be considered above the posted range.
