Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing routine daily nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to assure patient safety and attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each patient in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Promote adherence to and follow all policies and procedures of the facility, ensuring nursing policies are current and implemented.
- Maintain good interpersonal relationships with facility staff, healthcare professionals, and vendors to provide the highest level of care for residents.
- Must be able to assist patients with baths, showers, personal grooming, feeding, and toileting under the direct supervisor of a licensed nurse.
- Must be able to accurately document and chart patient care. Review care directives daily to determine if changes have been made.
- Must be able to respond to call lights promptly.
- Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients. Understand, comply with, and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.
- Follow established isolation precautions and procedures. Follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Demonstrate and able to explain proper body mechanics
- Establish effective communication/interaction with residents and families.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records and information. Ensure residents’ right to privacy.
- Follow established safety precautions in the performance of duties.
- Must assist in the evacuation of residents.
- Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds floor to waist, lift 35 pounds waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 pounds, and push/pull 35 pounds.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Attends and participates in in-service training.
- Works in the department as well as throughout the facility.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.
- Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily as necessary.
- Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the workday.
- Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
Specific Requirements
- Must be able to lift, turn, move, position, and transport patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute facility.
- Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department.
- Must perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas.
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to the company mission, vision, and values.
Education, Experience/Certification
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Washington in good standing.
- Must have CPR certification upon hire and remain current.
