Lead Actuary, Enterprise Pricing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Actuary, Enterprise Pricing based in Canada.

This is a high-impact actuarial leadership role focused on shaping sophisticated pricing strategies in a rapidly evolving insurance environment.
You will serve as a senior technical authority, developing innovative pricing frameworks that respond to changing risk landscapes and business priorities.
The role sits at the intersection of insurance, data science, engineering, and cybersecurity, requiring both deep actuarial expertise and strong cross-functional collaboration.
You will influence pricing governance, review complex rating initiatives, and help transform advanced actuarial concepts into practical tools for business teams.
Your work will directly support underwriting effectiveness, pricing performance, automation, and long-term commercial strategy.
The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to solve ambiguous problems through rigorous, data-driven thinking.
You will also act as a trusted ambassador for the actuarial function, influencing stakeholders and helping drive better pricing decisions across the organization.

Accountabilities
  • Develop standardized monitoring dashboards to evaluate business performance, market trends, and pricing effectiveness, using insights to recommend appropriate pricing actions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for pricing risk governance, helping establish, maintain, and strengthen appropriate controls and oversight frameworks.
  • Provide peer review and actuarial guidance for complex pricing initiatives, including rating structures, pricing caps, new risk signals, and other significant changes.
  • Translate sophisticated actuarial and technical concepts into clear, actionable information for non-technical stakeholders and contribute to intuitive UI/UX frameworks for internal pricing tools.
  • Provide actuarial expertise throughout rating plan implementation, automation, standardization, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate across insurance, data science, engineering, cybersecurity, underwriting, and other functions to develop effective data-driven pricing solutions.
  • Act as a senior representative of the actuarial function, promoting a solutions-oriented approach and building strong, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and monitor a broad range of business metrics, identifying trends and opportunities that can improve pricing proposals and business outcomes.
  • Lead complex initiatives from concept through execution while balancing immediate business requirements with longer-term strategic objectives.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of professional experience in insurance pricing, with deep expertise in actuarial pricing and reserving concepts.
  • FCAS certification is preferred, along with an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative or business discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, high-impact actuarial or pricing initiatives and operate as a senior technical authority.
  • Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, rating structures, risk assessment, governance, and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to approach ambiguous business problems in a structured, analytical, and data-driven manner.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic and operational mindset, with the ability to balance short-term execution with long-term business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and create effective outcomes across functions.
  • Proven ability to develop, evaluate, and monitor business metrics and use analytical insights to optimize pricing strategies.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Experience working across insurance, data science, engineering, or technology teams is highly valuable.
  • Pricing experience in cyber insurance, large accounts, Directors and Officers (D&O), or other commercial insurance lines is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with external regulators is a plus.
  • Experience with UI/UX design or translating technical pricing concepts into intuitive internal tools is beneficial.
Benefits
  • Base salary of CAD $160,600–$210,600 annually in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario.
  • Base salary of CAD $144,500–$194,500 annually in other Canadian locations.
  • Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, education, skills, credentials, qualifications, and geographic location.
