Summary

Are You a Problem Solver? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities change and no two days are the same?

We are looking for someone who can think on their feet, understand the bigger picture, and keep things moving when plans change. You don't need to have every answer—you need to know how to assess a situation, determine what matters most, and find a practical solution.

Here at Kurtz Bros., we believe problems are opportunities to learn, improve, and grow. The right person understands that not every problem is a crisis. Good judgment means knowing what needs immediate attention, what can wait, and when to involve others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and prioritize daily loads based on customer needs, equipment, drivers, and department priorities.
  • Develop and adjust routes to keep deliveries and pickups moving efficiently.
  • Monitor drivers and loads throughout the day and respond to changing conditions.
  • Communicate schedule and route changes to drivers, customers, management, and sales.
  • Identify potential problems before they become larger issues.
  • Understand how changes in one part of the operation can impact other areas.
  • Prioritize competing demands and focus on the critical flow of the operation.
  • Work with drivers and management to develop practical solutions to delays, traffic, equipment issues, and changing customer needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with drivers and customers.
  • Support sales with customer service, quotes, order entry, and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records, pricing, purchase orders, and transportation information.
  • Follow safety procedures and complete required documentation.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • A problem solver who looks for solutions.
  • Calm under pressure and able to keep perspective when things get busy.
  • Practical and able to distinguish between a problem and a crisis.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • A strong communicator who keeps people informed.
  • Accountable and follows problems through to resolution.
  • Improvement-minded and interested in making processes better.
  • Comfortable learning new systems, processes, and transportation operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of office, customer service, operations, logistics, or coordination experience preferred.
  • Transportation or dispatch experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Project coordination, logistics, construction, manufacturing, or operations experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Greater Cleveland roadways is preferred.

Schedule

Regular, dependable attendance is required. Flexibility to work additional hours and weekends may be required during our busy season, typically April through August.

The Bottom Line

We're looking for someone who can keep their head when things change, understand what is truly important, and figure out what needs to happen next.

If your mindset is “Let's assess it, solve it, learn from it, and make it better next time,” we'd like to meet you.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identify, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic data or other legally protected status.
