The Sales Engineer, Datacom will play a key role in supporting customer growth within high-power electrical, datacom, and energy applications. This role is ideal for a technically strong, customer-facing professional with hands-on experience in electrical systems, power distribution, connector applications, troubleshooting, and technical instruction. The Sales Engineer will partner with customers, Regional Sales Managers, manufacturer representatives, distributors, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders to identify applications, qualify opportunities, support design activity, and help deliver practical, reliable connector solutions for demanding power environments.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and support new and existing design opportunities for Anderson Power Products, with primary emphasis on Datacom, data center, telecom, energy, and high-power electrical applications.
- Work directly with customers to understand electrical system requirements, connector needs, power distribution challenges, safety considerations, and application-specific performance requirements.
- Apply technical knowledge of high-power electrical systems, connector applications, load analysis, protection coordination, voltage drop, power factor, and electrical theory to guide customers toward appropriate product solutions.
- Support opportunities involving existing and custom power connectors/products by collaborating with customer engineers, internal engineering teams, sales teams, and channel partners.
- Provide customer-facing technical support throughout the sales process, including product selection, application guidance, troubleshooting, and translation of technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Build and strengthen technical relationships with Datacom and Energy customers across multiple levels of the organization, including engineering, facilities, operations, purchasing, and leadership stakeholders.
- Support Regional Sales Managers, manufacturer representatives, and distributors by providing technical product expertise aligned to revenue, profitability, and design-win objectives.
- Assist in identifying new customers, markets, and application areas where Anderson Power Products connector solutions can solve emerging power distribution, data center, and energy infrastructure challenges.
- Maintain awareness of product development activity in the Datacom and Energy markets and coordinate with sales leadership to prioritize opportunities and resources.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of Datacom, Telecom, Energy, and high-power electrical projects that align with company growth objectives.
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers, distributors, manufacturer representatives, and internal sales teams.
- Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, industry events, and technical discussions to promote Anderson Power Products capabilities and identify new opportunities.
- Gather and communicate competitive intelligence, customer feedback, market trends, and application insights to support strategic decision-making at regional and headquarters levels.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams and coordinate with internal departments to support customer requirements, project execution, and business objectives.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technical certification, equivalent technical education, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, power distribution, facilities, HVAC/electrical, interconnect, or related technical fields.
- 5+ years of relevant technical sales, field application, electrical systems, power distribution, facilities engineering, HVAC/electrical, industrial products, or customer-facing technical experience.
- Hands-on experience with high-power electrical systems, including AC power, 3-phase systems, load analysis, protection coordination, electrical troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
- Working knowledge of NEC and UL-oriented electrical design, sizing, protection, compliance, installation, or troubleshooting practices strongly preferred.
- Experience with connector, interconnect, power connector, IEC 60320, NEMA, or related electrical connection applications desirable.
- Ability to quickly learn and communicate Anderson Power Products’ connector portfolio, including solutions for data center and high-power applications such as Saf-D-Grid.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex technical issues, communicate findings clearly, and guide customers or teams toward practical solutions.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to deliver technical presentations, conduct training, explain electrical concepts, and adjust communication style for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic environments involving customers, technicians, engineers, contractors, sales representatives, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional projects, technical teams, training activities, facility upgrades, repairs, installations, or operational improvements preferred.
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple opportunities or projects simultaneously.
- Results-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable learning new technical information, products, business processes, and market applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; conversational Spanish is a plus where applicable.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 50%.

The expected salary for this position is between $95,845.00 and $129,155.00 and is eligible for incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for the position and actual compensation will be based on numerous factors including knowledge, location, skills, training and experience.
