Job Description
General Summary
Administers all payroll related functions for non-exempt employees, including processing payroll and benefits, as well as maintaining employee data, fielding payroll related questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the company’s payroll process in a confidential manner with an emphasis on data accuracy and integrity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 150 employees adhering to processing deadlines and in an accurate manner.
- Research and resolve timecard discrepancies and errors (i.e. missing punches, absences, temporary schedule changes, etc.).
- Manage employee absences, ensuring the appropriate absence and time-off policies are applied and substantiated by the proper documentation and paperwork (PTO, Personal and Vacation, FMLA, LOAs, Worker’s Comp, etc.).
- Maintain a separate database for attendance and email disciplinary actions according to policy.
- Ensure proper payroll deductions, both voluntary and involuntary are processed and withheld.
- Process wage garnishments, support orders, ensuring all administrative paperwork is in order and distributed to the necessary parties.
- Prepare and upload 401k eligibility and upload deferral contribution reports to the retirement portal.
- Enter changes for employee and payroll related items (i.e. payroll deductions, wages rates, etc.)
- Respond to employment verifications, both verbal and written.
- Filing, faxing, scanning and copying and other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the People Operations Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma.
- At least 2 years' experience processing payroll, preferably using ADP Workforce Now.
- Must have knowledge and experience with processing wage garnishments and support orders.
- Familiar will all Local, State and Federal laws and guidelines pertaining to payroll processing and record maintenance.
- High level of professionalism and integrity, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally communicate with employees.
- Strong problem resolution skills and prompt response to employee questions and concerns.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, high-volume environment with an emphasis on data entry accuracy and timelines.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional analytical and numerical skills.
- Exceptional follow-through and organizational abilities.
- Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements
- Position is largely a sedentary role with heavy computer and data entry.
Standard office hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
